Hey there folks.
Hopefully everyone is as excited as the officers are about our recent foray into the actual 25 man raids. And the fact that we can do it our own way without being overbearing dictators about the way the raids are run.
As I'm sure some of you already know, we're soon going to be needing tanks with very specific resist sets in order to make a go at the next bosses and be able to walk away with some T5 phatness.
A few of us (Ferrous, Pregor, and Zealot) have started working on these sets. They aren't cheap, however and if anyone would like to contribute primals to the cause we'd be very excited to accept donations.
The other reason for this post is to just let everyone be aware of what we're doing in case other people feel strongly about doing the same. We're not trying to be the three only tanks available for these encounters but since we're usually not adverse to coughing up money to further the guild we figured we'd start. If anyone else would like to start building a set and would like to ask for guild donations for a couple pieces, you could start by talking to any of the three of us in game about what direction to go and which pieces to buy with your badges.
At the moment, Ferrous has purchased a bunch of pieces of fire resist gear from the badge vendor and Pregor is working on a crafted Frost resist set. Pregor has amassed a hefty assortment of Primal Nethers, Primal Water, Felsteel and some Primal Fires. Zealot purchased a new Arena Chestpiece and is working on a matching heaedpiece that he can put resist all gems in. He's also on the lookout for any level 70 Nature Resistance leather green items any one comes across.
So in closing....
1. If anyone wants to start building a set talk to us and we'll let you know where to start.
2. If anyone wants to donate Primal Fire, primal shadow, or primal life they can mail them to Pregor, Zealot, or the guildbank. Also if anyone has a Primal Mana to primal fire free they can grab a Mana from the guild bank from an officer.
3. If anyone finds a Nature Resistance level 70 leather piece they would like to donate they can send it to Zealot.

Well I know that some of the 25 man fights are a lot easier with a Pally tank. Is there any specific resist set that I should work on for the Pally specific fights?

I also have been long considering a return to prot. Maybe this is a good time to do it?

I just picked up a couple nature resist patterns the other day. My question is this. With my warrior coming in late in the game and so close to WOTLK coming out would I be better off donating mats or crafting my own gear?
*thinking aloud* I don't see her getting geared up enough to tank any 25 man content before the expansion (my guess at when it comes out) so maybe I'll just do 25s with my hunter and donate some stuff so we can get in there and down some new bosses sooner?

Holy shit, I just looked up the requirements. 64 Primal Fires? Fuck that. Who wants my mats?
My leatherworking is sitting at 369...I'm trying to push it to 375. Tri is Aldor...I'll be happy to make whatever useful resist sets I can make for my bear friends. Unfortunately most WoW sites are BANNINATED from work and I can't remember if any of the Aldor resist sets are what you're looking for.

Hydross is the only one that requires certain resists. He can be done with 3/4 tanks, one of which it's recommended to be a pally tank. Pally tanks for Hydross need to be in a mixture of frost/nature resist gear since they're gonna be tanking the adds that spawn from him. I think close to 200 of each is the level you'll need to look for. Remember that those numbers can be reached with a hunter using their nature aura and a shammy dropping their frost resist totem.
Also, http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=2329262930&sid=1, might help any bear tanks interested in accumulating any resist gear.
And this is good as well http://www.wowwiki.com/Hydross_the_Unstable/Resistance_Gear

Yeah this was the point of Fox's original post. Although many people might feel it would be fun to try their hand at tanking the 25 man content, we wouldn't even come close to having the resources necessary to outfit everyone that wanted to have a shot at it.
If we are going to progress in this content a little it is going to going to be by maximizing our synergies, something this guild always does a great job at.
With regard to the Paly tank we might want to check and see what Jaannaa is working on. He is a blacksmith himself and I would hate to see us overlap to a point where he is told he can't come. Taking two paladin tanks isn't really an option. However, if we are able to achieve depth then we should definitely shoot for that because it would be nice to always have options. This is the reason Fren and I decided to focus on different sets of gear. We don't have the resources to outfit us both in both sets.
As Brendar points out, 36 primal fires, 36 primal waters, 36 primal shadow and 36 primal life per set of frost / nature resist gear make this a somewhat daunting farm for multiple sets of gear. And buying 36 primal fires or shadow on the AH is nutz nowadays. I remember when I thought 20g was expensive. Now I wish they were 20!
Our goals should always be clear: Have fun, progress a little, and get everyone a chance to see it.

Point well taken, and I was serious about the mats. I can farm air and earth primals like a mofo if I devote time to it and I can generally pick up fire and water at a somewhat slower rate. I'm not sure of all the transmutes, but I know this can get you some, and at the very least I can sell the ones we don't need and then buy up the ones we do.
I'm saying I'm willing to devote some time to farming for this, as I am chomping at the bit to see new content.
Phase III of my school starts next week and its supposed to be even slower and lamer than this one = more wow time.

I find that I am of two minds about this. On one hand, I would love to see more content and what not. On the other hand I'm not completely sure that I will be able to make the mats investment worth it because I'm not sure that I will be able to go to these runs for sure. Let me know what you guys think.

I think the paly set is easier to make, but I could be wrong. I have only been looking at Pregor's stuff really.
Dalwin or Kharthis could work on a set but we should probably decide ahead of time how we are going to do it so we don't split the mats in half.

I can donate my daily transmute. I have all the discovery ones, I believe. And you might get lucky and get extra primals.

I am taking three days off work next week with the goal of making Pepin the Younger a respectable Protection Warrior. So I will try to get into what ever is available and would like to run the daily heroic with anyone interested.

Tig has pretty much all the transmutes. If you need a cool down send it her way. She is elixir spec'd so if you are looking for procs send it to someone else. But if you just want stuff changed over faster you can send it to her, she never uses her cooldown anymore.

As well as tanks with resist gear for Hydros. We would need a warlock with full fire resist gear for Leo the Blind. A lock tanks the demon half of him when he splits himself. From what I have read 250 FR is the minimum to shoot for. I have a friend in a horde guild who plays a lock and he is the one that tanks the demon half. He was telling that he has a little over 300 and he might get hit 2 out of 10 times and the rest are resisted. Just wanted to put that out there as well.

Fire resist, as it turns out, is not exceptionally hard to come by if you have spare badges. 100 badges will buy you 200 fire resistance in four pieces. You can enchant each of those with an additional +8 fire resist in armour patches and throw in the Phoenix-fire Band and Amulet of the Torn-heart from the Trial of the Naaru questlines and you've got 286 resistance for a total investment of 100 badges, 16 heavy knothide leather and 16 primal water.

I am not a particular Francophile, just an admirer of Charlemagne, his father and grandfather.
Now where do I start? Should I pick fire resist gear and start putting my efforts in that direction or is there a better nich? Hammer has a fair collection of mats and now that Pepin has ihs epic bird I can start sucking up all the loose metal I can find. I will respec him back to protection tomorrow, is there a particular build that is best?
