As she's walking here on the treadmill she asks me, "What's that smell?".
Me: I don't smell anything. What does it smell like?
Amanda: Feet, chips or burning rubber.
Me: And all those things smell similar to you, do they?
Amanda: Yes.

Haha... awesome!
"Feet, chips or burning rubber"?
Bad might not be correct. Disturbing is more appropriate.

So.... what was the actual source of the smell?
The peppermint in her mouth.

Wow.
:( LOOK. My olfactory is just really fucked up. I blame my mother smoking in my face all those years.
Literally, I would eat breakfast in the morning while she sat next to me and smoked.

Post-natal smoking effects are clearly documented. This is so sad!

Okay, see I was on Amanda's side at first. Doritos smell like feet, and sometimes burning rubber can be kinda footy smelling if it's old rubber. But ya lost me at the peppermint. But this could make an awesome drinking game. What Does Amanda Smell Now.... whoever guesses wrong has to down a shot.

I like you even more now.

What really bothers me is that I can't smell what other people smell, but then I'll think I smell something really strange and NOBODY else can smell it. Something, somewhere, in my brain has been completely damaged.

Smell and taste are often pretty closely linked. Do you taste food differently too, or is just smell that's screwed up?

One too many angry dragons....
I think it's just smell.
Although I do like a lot of food that other people think is sour.

I often get asked, "does this smell like it's gone bad?".
Look, I CAN'T SMELL IT! WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!

Today, I get an IM while at work that the house smells like it's burning. When I get home she's like "you smell it?". ... uhm... I smell a slight hint of tuna but nothing burning... *pats Amanda gently on the head*

You should get her some sort of helper animal, like an aardvark or something.
Hahah, that would be nice!
Olfactory hallucinations? My God! What rad drugs are you taking?

Having gotten contact orgasms from her at that Italian restaurant in Toronto, I'd say her sense of taste works fine.
