So it was briefly discussed and hushed rather quickly the topic of is cheesecake a pie or a cake....

I admit I had to go google it, and am finally satisfied why its a pie and not a cake. I quote the all mighty wiki:

"Cheesecakes, despite their name, aren't really cakes at all. Cheesecakes are in fact custard pies, with a filling made mostly of some form of cheese (often cream cheese, mascarpone, ricotta or the like), and have very little to no flour added, although a flour-based crust may be used. "

Other web results give reasons like the fact that a cheescake does not rise and obviously no cake I have ever heard of actually has a crust.

So Im curious as to the huge debate that was quelled in the intrest of saving the raid from recovery because we would argue over cake and pie.

your thoughts?

also for the record Beard you are the best ball handler ever!

actually in speaking with X today he was like "you did what?" when I told him I made this post. He explained the entire cake vs pie factions within V.S.
Who knew? I thought it was a simple question... of course him being canadian he quickly adjusted the scales stating that neither could hold a candle to Donuts. Which are a cake I might add... but he explained that they were so much more than that and made some allegorical remark on fish and dolphins.. which totally lost me.

So yah about that....

I thought my allegory comparing donuts to dolphins was quite astute.

There is only one answer to the cheesecake debate. Yes, it is a pie. Regardless it is delicious!

Custard is based around egg and cream, not cheese. So, in a word...no.

Custards will also have about 4 eggs and cream or evaporated milk, but that is it other than flavoring agents. Cheesecake on the other hand has 4 eggs, but 32 oz of some form of cheese. So the major factor there is the cheese and not the egg.

What is cheese made out of, Styg?
