Since this has now been implemented, I just wanted to take a minute to say a couple things...
If someone in the guild doesn't want to use this feature, or isn't comfortable with friending everyone in the guild, please don't pressure them. This service isn't for everyone and it is stirring up quite a bit of drama on the official forums.
Some people have non guilded alts and play on other servers when they want a break, and that has never been an issue before.
In other news:
Holy shit! We had an earthquake! 5.0!!

Good post Fox.
I'm still debating what to do (need to read more about it). The no pressure thing goes well with what I've come to know about VS.
I know most of the peeps in my area. But I can't wait to spend thousands of dollars and fly thousands of miles to stalk all you guys.

I missed the boat on this one...please, PLEASE, OMG in heaven PLEASE, tell me that pre-existing friends are not automatically made into RealID friends.
I thought that I had cleaned out my friends list; but I cycled through my toons today and saw that I had missed one.
I have some "over-zealous" friends that I want no part of them looking at RL info.

No no Pils.... no need to freak out.
Real ID friends are separate from your friends list. In order to add a Real ID friend or accept a friend request from someone else you must exchange your actual email addresses.
Well... at least you do for the first one. After you are Real ID friends with someone you can see each other's list of Real ID friends. It won't tell you who their WoW player names are but if you know what people's actual names are you can request them to be Real ID friends from that list.
This step is the one that has some people concerned on the forums.... so if you have any trouble with privacy don't feel bad about not accepting people's Real ID requests.
One other thing to note is that everyone is going to have different levels at which they are comfortable with their privacy. Just because they are Real ID friends with one person doesn't mean they are comfortable with being friends with the whole guild. So just to reiterate.... try not to pressure each other :)

So does no really mean no, or could it just mean not until I slip them a roofie? Just so I know the limits.....
I don't think there is anyone that can see this that I have a problem with them knowing that info.

No no Pils.... no need to freak out.
But...I like freaking out, man.
I am happy that I dont have to change my name and move to Madagascar or Finland.
Well, Finland would be a really cool place to live...I hear things about Finnish women that sounds rather intriguing.

Yeah, I really don't like the forum changes. Not that I post on the forums, but I don't think displaying posters real names is a good idea.

Yeah. Prior to the forum announcements, I thought the realID thing was pretty neat. I still don't mind guildies putting me on theirs, but everybody who plays knowing my name? Not so much. Thank god I don't post on those forums.
Although I was reading yesterday that addons can pry out your RealID name due to you always being a friend of yourself.

At first I thought the Real ID on blizzard forums was a great idea. It would clean them up immensely if people couldn't post the rude garbage they normally do anonymously. But then I realized that I will never post on them again. I don't want to get into another musical and have a google search return a dozen WoW forums results.
Wait a minute...Fox does musicals? As in singing showtunes? O.O

Google my Real ID..... which at the moment doesn't list a bunch of WoW forums. ;)
Anyone who remembers some of Euls' more "special" pvper admirers from back in the day will understand when I say... I don't think any women are going to post on the official boards now, ever.

My name is unique enough that if you search for my first and last name you can find out exactly who I am and where I work.
I don't really post on the forums, but I can promise you I never will again.

That is not a trall...it is an ugly goblin.
Tralls are wonderous, beautiful things.

Troll, Pils. Not trall.
Tralls start on the Echo Isles and work their way up to Orgrimmar, Shattrath and Dalaran.
Trolls start on Usenet and work their way up to Facebook, 4chan and the WoW forums.
Tralls range from light green to light blue and are up to 7' tall, though always hunched over.
Trolls range from pasty white to pasty yellow and are up to 6' tall when not hunched over their computers.

Hey guys, I'm starting to play around with the Panda and Diablo betas. Figured I would bump this thread to say that if you want to add my Real ID just send me a PM or whisper me in game.
