When 1.10 comes out, I think I'm going to switch Gleja from a Holy priest to a Disc priest. I think it will be more in line with what I want her to do. Which is:

Be a long-lasting healer that focuses on Renew & Flash Heals
Generate little threat
Have some soloing ability with a decreased wait time between battles.

I love this new tree, because while holy doesn't entice me enough away from shadow (yes yes I know everyone hates shadow priests just like they hate rogues my heart is b0rken) there IS a lot of interesting new stuff around the top of the tree -- the build I've played with is 20/31 holy/shadow, and we'll see what happens. I HEART PATCH DAY.

But if you can't cast Holy spells while in shadowform, why build up holy talents? I've never played shadow, so this is an honest question.

Dropping back out of shadowform is instant, and you're not stuck in it forever. When I use shadowform, I pop in to do a whole lot of damage in a short amount of time and absorb as much physical damage from a mob as possible, then when I need a heal or whatever I can cast shield, drop shadowform, and heal away. I'm building holy talents with this build because I AM A BIG DUMB TWINK and spamming holy nova sounds almost as smokingly hawt as spamming mind flay in shadowform. XD

I don't really know why the uberhardk0r say that shadow priests are useless; yeah, a holy priest heals more per sec than I do, but having shadowform gives me the ability to stay alive longer and prevent wipes a little better. I think it's an interesting balance, but I know with that comes the rider that I'm not going to be invited to raids quite so often because, like poor Ing the holy paladin, the vast majority of priests with shadow spec are RETARDED and that colors people's dealings with me.

I have a very good lvl 60 shadow priest on the horde server and I have to say...I love her. And I heal absolutely fine. I have enough healing gear that I can hold my own healing the MTs in MC when called upon to do so. As long as your shadow priest agrees to actually heal and isn't all "but i'm just here for dps!!1," then people shouldn't be hatin' on us.

I started Gleja on an RP server. Although I've never been an RP'er I figured I'd give it a try so I made her a backstory. Thanks to that story she has the odd job combination of Tailor/Miner and has never touched the shadow tree. But maybe once Gleja makes it to 60 I'll try a shadow with an alt.

I also have a level 60 horde shadow priest on another server who heals just fine. I can't imagine not having Silence and Mind Flay...especially while leveling.

Very easily. Shield + Shadow Protection (if necessary) + spells/wands. I have very little trouble with casters. The only ones I hate are the Jadefire Tricksters. I do wish that Disc/Holy had a spell interruption skill, but I haven't had too many problems.

Having never leveled another character I don't know that Holy/Disc levels slower than Shadow. But my leveling speed has felt fine to me.

Ugh! This prolonged maintenance time is KILLING me. I want to get on, respec & get my UI set up before tonight's Mara run.

If it were me, i would probably take 1 point out of wand specialization and put it into inner focus. I just think a free spell is better than a 5% wand damage increase. But then again i've never played a priest so i could be totally off, =\

Maybe that link is wrong. I do have 1 point in Inner Focus. I plan on combining it with PoH a lot. 1 free group heal with a 25% chance to crit? Sign me up!

I don't know about levelling speed -- I've only ever played Aro. I don't think I'm like, 1337 uberp0wered or anything; it doesn't feel like I level superfast (I'm also a very casual gamer).

I DO know that I have a whole system worked out, and I'm not sure how I'd get by levelling without Silence bringing casters to me to wail on. But I don't think I'm a crappy healer EITHER; it's just a different playstyle. I like to blow shit up when I'm not busy performing my actual service as a healbot. XD

<3 Silence!!! To me there's nothing worse than getting nuked to death in an instance by an un-tanked caster...which happened to me a bazillion times in Scholo last week! :wink: Druids need Silence! and Shackle! and Shield!
