This is a shout-out to all of my fellow Paladins in the guild! Welcome! For quite a while now, most of the Paladin action found in the guild was either myself, Jorack, or Ingomar. These days, though, it appears we have a lot more, and whether new or old, welcome aboard!

This thread is intended to start a discussion for all of us to get to know each other better. Whether you are a main, or an alt, it doesn't matter, we're all here for the same reasons - to smite evil and look damn good doing it.

I encourage all of you to please respond - not only is it an opportunity to see your fellow paladins, but we can certainly help one another.

Build: Kind of an unusual one. I may be the only Paladin in the guild who's not Holy spec, who knows :) My current build which I love to pieces is 17/18/16. This gives me the first 3 tiers of Holy for improved healing, Consecration, Lay on Hands, etc., then a ton of Protection up to full Redoubt, Defense, Righteous Fury and Kings, and then just enough Retribution to get me Seal of Command.

In instances I generally prefer to tank - up to the raids, anyway. UBRS or above, I lean more towards off-tanking or DPS. Healing is not really my thing, I save it for emergencies.

Equipment is full tier 0, 6/8 Soulforge at the moment, and 4/5 Deathbone (which is a fantastic tank set from Scholo I'll link in another thread sometime soon). Let me know if you want any information or help with any of the Tier 0!

Ing has all her Tier 0 except the Lightforge Boots. I hope to get those on Thursday in Live Strat!

Ing is mostly holy with a little in protection - holy all the way up to the infamous holy shock, and just a little in prot, through blessing of kings. I put the last prot points in toughness instead of improved righteous fury. I have been regretting this a lot.

Ing has respecced a lot. Hysterically, back on Zul'Jin she started out as prot, and pretty much everyone I encountered who was not my personal friend told me it was useless and pallies should only spec holy. :( So I respecced holy, and I learned to like it. I enjoy tanking, but pulling makes me neurotic. It's hard for pallies to do the one without the other, so I like getting practice in it to make me a more efficient pallytank when that's needed, but I'd be fibbing if I said I enjoyed it. XD

I've been talking to Jam about respeccing more in prot, because he holds aggro WAY more than I do, and there seems to be a greater need for me to get out there and take a hit for the Light most of the time.

I have Killie who is 33 and deep into the retribution tree. She gets little playtime but she's there and I'm bored and feel like typing.

Moorguard, 60 Paladin

He is currently specced 31 Holy 20 Prot.

He has all Lightforge with the exception of his boots and two pieces of his Soulforge.

as far as raid experience, I've done about a dozen ZG runs with him and he is MC attuned but never been there.

I prefer to play the role of back up healer / offtank.

Epic mount is done.

A little general on his status as far as quest progress, I'm at the jailbreak portion of my Onyxia quest, the 45 Minute run of BRD, and currently trying to aquire as much + healing gear as possible.

The two main problems I am having at the moment is that my computer freezes when I go in an instance and because of my work schedule, I cannot raid on a weekly basis.

If I remember right, 33 Holy, and the rest in Protection...I've got Kings.

I am a priest in plate, baby, and not those plates you get from the Franklin Mint with Elvis on them. If I can manage to main-heal, I'm pretty damn proud of myself, but I accept the fact that in hardcore situations I can't keep a whole party alive. I have vastly more mana than HP, especially when I'm wearing my proper gear -- in fact, I carry an entire different outfit and switch to it if I have to play tank. I am uncomfortable if I have to be the main tank, because I have no taunt and I can't out-damage the DPSers.

How are you doing on your Tier 0/.5 set pieces?

Some very, very nice person gave me some shiny gloves. And I have a belt and bracers to match. Rah!

Build: 22 Holy / 18 Prot / 11 Ret (w/ Kings, SoC).
Professions: Mining 300 / Engineering 300 (with most non-raid schematics)

I haven't really figured out what I want (mostly off tank / backup healing), but I have done quite a bit of tanking in the undead areas. Holding aggro elsewhere is a pita. I've now switched to a Holy build with Benediction and Seal of Command from the Ret tree.

I did PvP like crazy last month and am exalted with Stormpike/AV. There are some nice rewards here including some nice 1H/2H maces, a shield, and ring. The mace and ring have been tremendous boosts for my dps; I find it much nicer when soloing.

Equipment: Full lightforge (tier 0), 3/8 Soulforge and 1/5 Deathbone. I'd really like more of the deathbone, but it just hasn't dropped for me. A group of us did the 45 baron last weekend so I should be getting more soulforge soon. I have my MC/BWL attunement, and the Onyxia thing is done.

Epic mount = done.

Reggid level 40 all Holy. Played sometimes since I have a free mount and grinding is not as painful.

Jafn- 60 Pally. 2/3 holy, 1/3 protect.

I tried going all ret but it was all wet. I still couldn't do any decent dps. Sigh. I will settle for being 4th or 5th in damage and occassionally fighting undead so I can feel powerful.

In groups or raids I prefer to back-up heal and to just be there with the auras and blessings, standing by with a bubble for the priest. I think the versatility of this composite class will allow me to make a difference wherever the group needs it at the moment. Honestly, I just want to be useful. Sure, I'd love to tank but I can't hold the aggro. If there is some trick to that, besides using righteous fury and giving everyone else sanctuary, I'd like to hear it.

I don't know what you mean by tiers for gears. Sounds like what I shed while teaching my son to drive with a manual transmission. :) I have a lightforge belt and helm but none of the other sets you mentioned.

I need to do DM west for the next step in the epic mount quest but I am in no hurry.

Butting my head in here, even though I don't have a Pally. Jafn - DPS doesn't matter. IMHO Pally's aren't meant for DPS. They are a great class that is very versitile in what they can do, and very useful in any situation. I really, really hope that you coming in 4th or 5th in damage is something that doesn't bother you, because it shouldn't :)
As far as your questions about holding aggro while tanking, teaching your son to drive a manual and the Pally tier 0 / .5 stuff, I'll leave that up to our resident Pally Wise Guy (Jamisia) or any other Pallies.

and P.S. Many of our Pallies who have their epic mount did it with VS, so look me up if you need any help with that.

Grommley - the one I originally intended to be my main. Way back in the good old days of text based MMO's aka MajorMUD I used to play a Dwarf Cleric. Since the Paladin most resembled this class, I thought that maybe I could fill a similar role and this would suit me just fine. I was wrong..... very wrong. I never should have tried to compare the class types and pick something I was used to. As a result Grom is a twenty-something miner/blacksmith. Right now he mostly holds mats for my warrior, who is also a blacksmith. I cannot remember how I specced because I haven't seriously played him in a while.

Haven't respecced yet because I'm not sure what the benefits to do so are. Have mainly run as a half tank / half healer with lots of retribution on and casting Buffs as fast I can. Wasn't really used to tanking until joining VS, but with a good grouping (Frenial!) and others, was able to do well ;D

Looking for Scholomance (haven't really done it at all) and helping anyone who needs it at any time I'm on.

Epic = in my dreams :'( have tons of Thorium in the bank, but need to get arcanite crystals and someone to enchant them!

It's fine, Zan. :) "Pally dps, lol" is a common joke among everyone, I think. I've only seen two paladins ever put out decent dps, and it was Jam and Janice, back on our old server. I know what Jam does, but once Janice ranked first in dps in a Darrowshire raid, and I have NO idea how she did THAT.

I'll update this when I hit 60 and (maybe) decide how i want to spec. Right now I'm 11/x/28, the x being whatever is left. I'm just getting what I think are the best levelling talents.

With the new patch that comes out today, who knows?? But I think that Prot spec is going to be a lot more viable. I'll have to play around.

This worries me...what is this, three weeks in a row now when they haven't even taken Eitrigg down for regular maintenance? We've either got a super server, or it's gonna' crash & burn when BC comes out!

We were down this week. Just not for very long.

I levelled with Prot for a while, then switched to holy because back in the day, no one wanted any of the other specs around. I ended up liking it.

Jam levelled with Ret, and he was able to level a lot faster than me, but this could also be because Jam is driven and I am a lazy ass.

Glimer is his name. Paladin is his game. Lets see, he's 32, mostly specced in holy, dribble in prot/ret. No real spec at level 32. He enjoys off tanking or main tanking (if thats all thats left in the group). I take healing pretty serious and therefore am not real good at it (someone dies, feel bad, sucks (i'm seeking counselling on this)). Course any kind of epic stuff is not even a question so keeps it short and sweet.

Lushy is now 5!! (Maybe 6... I usually play her when I'm drunk so I really have no idea.) I'll post later when I am of a respectable age ;)

Anyone choosing different re-spescs with the immenent TBC update? I've been tempted to change many times, but I really like my holy/ret spec...

I'm currently 0/48/3 lol (the three is in Improved Might), trying out the Protection tree - it's a lot more viable now than it used to be and from what I've seen so far it really works great for a hardcore MT position. I'll know more after a few days of playing with it.
