Apparently, pages from the last Harry Potter are floating around the internet tubes. So watch out what you click on.
Blizz is being really strict about the forums, hanging out lengthy bans for even posting obviously fake spoilers. But that won't catch everything.

Thanks for the warning. That would not be cool.

I must admit I have a bad habit of flipping to the end of a book to see what happens. This is pretty much a subconscious urge, I just find myself doing it without thinking about it. I've ruined many a good book that way. It will be interesting to see if I can control this urge while reading this final, very long Harry Potter book! Still, I'd rather have it be my own fault than the result of someone posting a spoiler!

I used to do this ALL THE TIME when I was younger, and even now, I still flip forward--but I don't read anything. I just turn to the last page, look at the number, and then go back to the page I am on and think 'soooon ... SOOON'

Honestly? After the fifth book I kinda lost interest. It was just so whiny and agnsty!
I felt like I was reading bad fanfiction.
I actually own the sixth but I haven't bothered to read it yet. I'm almost afraid to, since I already know what happens.

Damn. That is crazy. I would be so pissed if I knew the end. I don't read the books but I love the movies. Saw the newest one on Saturday.

I liked the fifth book the least.... six was really great I thought.

It would only be bad fanfiction if Harry and Draco were having hawt ghei sexx0rz.
I enjoyed the whiny angst to an extent because it made Harry more human for me; it's reasonably true to the behavior of fifteen year-old boys, and it would have been taking the easy way out to make Harry a perfect unfeeling golden boy.

The secretary at work EMAILED AN ARTICLE ON IT TO ME. The article was like, "The epilogue to the last Harry Potter book has been leaked. HERE IS A PICTURE." I was like AUGH AUGH CLOSE EMAIL CLOSE EMAIL!

You know, I have seen the movies, but have never read a single one of the books.

If you've only seen the movies, you're missing out on a whole lot. As with any adaptation, the movies can only cover so much of the story. In this case, the movies just scratch the surface. I should have the book Saturday, so if I'm not playing until Monday, you'll know why. :)

Me also. I am fanatically paranoid about spoilers, which means my first reading will probably end up being more like a speed-skim just so I can get it done this weeken.

I don't know if everybody already knows this, but I thought it was cool: The American versions are actually adapted slightly us silly yanks. It cuts down pretty heavy on the British slang and makes it more identifiable for American kids. When the sixth book came out, I was over here so I got the British (original) version and was suprised how different the feel of it was. So I went back and got them all in the original text and it feels a lot more authentic. It was a pleasure to go back and read them again like that.
If you want, its as simple as ordering from amazon.co.uk instead of amazon.com.

The even changed the name of the first book!
Cause American kids apparently don't know what a philosopher is.

That made me insane, because the Philosopher's Stone is a "real" mythological artifact. So basically the change meant that a reference to something from already-known mythology was replaced with something random. GRR!
... this is why I was delighted to be in Canada when the first movie came out, so I have the Philosopher's Stone version.

I'll admit I just started watching the movies recently, and liked all of them (didn't see the new one yet). If the books are that good I might have to pick them up now. I liked "Prisoner of Azkaban" the most so far because he stopped taking shit, and I like Sirius Black's character - he's bad ass.

Adult Edition? Is that like a director's cut, where they put in all the stuff the kiddies can't see?
Awesome.

No, it's just a more 'sophisticated' cover design.
