So...I have just discovered something.

I mean, all this while, I was very confused about people talking about how their times were showing up funny in posts, and so on. I had no idea what they were talking about. But I didn't really care much, because it didn't affect me.

Then last night, Rastus sent me a tell and goes, 'Hey, we're healing buddies in Kara tomorrow!' and I went, what the fuck? I didn't sign up for Kara tomorrow!'

Except apparently I have.

And so I went and looked at the forum, and it turns out that if you read the forum the way I always have -- by clicking on 'New Posts' at the top -- you don't get any indication of time or date for instance runs. You just see a place. So I put my name in for what, on my screen, just says 'This! Is! Karazhan! (Part 1)'. I figured I was just saying, 'Hey, I'm keyed now, so hey, whenever, I'm one of those keyed people.' I wasn't signing up for a specific time or date...or at least, I didn't realize I was.

So I went and looked directly at the 'Instances' forum...and it shows dates! At least now I know what people were complaining about earlier.

Is there a way we can fix that so that 'New Posts' shows the same thing that manually going to forum by forum looking for new posts does? I'm not sure how the forum's tied to the calendar.

When you click on the link in the list to read the post and consider signing up you will then see the time and date at the top.

The time and date are in teeeeeny tiny text under the name of the first poster (below the time and date of the post itself).

I'll look into this but the date is put into the event subject via the calendar mod we use so I'll have to do some digging but I'm sure I can figure it out.

I would love it love it if that happened. When I'm on the forum at work, it's generally for about 30 seconds, and I can't always go back and forth on the calendar to double-check stuff.

Think we're SOL here. The event/forum mod manipulates the event title based on if the forum you are viewing is an "events forum". Since viewing all "new posts" doesn't actually take you into a forum, the events mod doesn't manipulate the event title in that view.

Like it was mentioned before though, if you look to the top of the event info once you check out the post, you'll see the time and date -- albeit somewhat small.

EXAMPLE: Here, you'll see at the top of the event info "Frenial", followed by "Director" and then the "date/time" of the event.

I'm seeing in small text next to Fren's name and right above in the little breadcrumb trail or whatever you want to call the path through the forums displayed above the post:

Victorious Secret Forums > Victorious Secret of Eitrigg > Instances, Raids & Events > Completed Instances, Raids & Events
This! Is! Karazhan! (Part 1): Wed 09-12-2007 07:00 PM - 10:00 PM

This may vary depending on which skin you use to view forums.

Yup. It's there too. The color difference made my eyes skim right over it.

Doesn't every event thread have a big header at the top that describes the event (if the Producer entered a description) and the time? Or am I just missing something?

Kinda sorta if you're refering to the breadcrumb. I think the main problem is that the date/time aren't being shown in the "new posts" section because it's not an "event forum" and therefore not getting the date/time added to the subject line.

Yes, it's there at the top, but if you go to 'New Posts', you don't see the dates. Then if you click on the little 'last unread message', your browser will go there, and helpfully scroll down the page to the new post, so you don't even get the header with the date/time.

Been there, done that a few times myself. May not be solvable, but, meh, worth a shot.

Possibly one more issue for Killian - I just tried to move 3 scheduled instance runs that were slated for last night 9/13 from the Instance forum to the Completed forum using the normal Moderator controls but it didn't move em. It did not give me any errors, it just did squat. :)

They moved for me. Sounds like a user error. ;)

I dunno, been doing this for a long time now :D I just tried it again with the Nekkidness run and it didn't move it. Maybe we can get Fox or Saph or one of the others with the same permissions I have to try it out. Sounds like the functionality is working but maybe the permissions are wonky or something.

But none of them are completed... there's nothing for me to move!

Where were you moving the naked run?

Your permissions are global and not really limited to any one forum. Not sure. I'll have Agnes try in a bit and I'll watch over her shoulder.

Oh I was moving 3 runs that WERE completed on 9/13 to the completed forums, that's what I couldn't move. Killian did successfully move em. :) I was only trying to move the nekkid run as a test tool, not a permanent move. Still doesn't work though - weird!

I know what I did to screw things up, I just don't know why it screwed things up. I investigated a bit tonight and it's nothing obvious so it may take me a bit to figure out what's wrong. In the meantime, I'll try and stay on top of the house cleaner. I MEAN HOUSE CLEANING.
