Yes, I'm referring to the ongoing battle between cake and pie. We, as a guild, need to decide if we're pro-pie or pro-cake. Hopefully this doesn't tear the guild apart but we need to put an end to this hot debate.

Did we ever truly decide where cheesecake falls? That's my deciding factor... the people need to know!

According to wikipedia and Everything2.com, it's a pie.

There's a cake/pie genie and he'll only grant you one but he'll make you any kind you want. Which do you pick?
I like cake too but if I HAD to choose... it'd be a pie.

Cake is so much better and...Cheesecake is CAKE!!! :)
edit: ok I saw wikipedia. If it is infact a pie then I like both. Everyone has to have an exception right? Cake all the time unless it is cheesecake aka pie :(

Can we have another choice. Like "don't care"?

So then by Alton Brown's definition of Cheesecake, Icecream Cake isn't cake either, just awesome icecream yumminess with cookie crumb crust, which makes it Icecream Pie. Hmm, that just sounds weird really.
Ice cream cake can be actual layers of cake with ice cream in it, too.
I just don't know what's true anymore, this debate has turned all that I know about dessert on its ear!

Chocolate ancho cake with raspberry filling and whipped raspberry cocoa icing.
Mille crepe cake -- twenty delicate crepes layered with creme anglaise, topped with caramelized sugar.
Individual molten chocolate cake with ice cream.
Orange sponge cake with frosting made of orange and lemon zest whipped into cream.
Do not mess with me on cakes.

Yeah, this is a toughie, but when I really think hard about it, I guess my favorite desserts are pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and any type of cobbler or crumble (yum buttery crunchy sweet doughy things on top) so I had to run with "pie" -- but I'll never turn down a piece of cake!
Oh so now a stack of crepes is "cake." This can't be true!

Once you put icing on something it automatically becomes "Cake". And once you pour maple syrup on something it automatically becomes "Canadian"! LOL

The really important question is, "Did Jam bake it?"
Because then it doesn't matter if it's cake or pie, I am going to eat it.

Probably by dropping your entire face in it.

Cake or Pie? Why do we have to choose? I say both. Now normally I'd side with cake, but the pumpkin pie last weekend (Cdn Thanksgiving) was very good. ;-)
