I'm putting this in the VS-only forum because RIAA can bite me.

I've mentioned my love for nerdcore a few times on /guild, and there are people who've expressed a general dislike for rap...as if all rap music is the same.

Well, nerdcore is smart people writing clever rhymes about geeky subjects. Like D&D. Or zombies. Or WoW. Or how cool their dog is. Or anime. There's even an entire song about the many different kinds of bridges (y'know, suspension, floating, truss, etc). It's nerd rap, and it's hilarious and excellent in all ways.

OK I've never heard of MC Frontalot, but I've downloaded all of them off you and I totally dig this guy.

Mostly because of his rythmic patterns. It almost sounds like he records each word seperately... though its probably just because he's an expert with ProTools.

I'm actually a fan of rap in general. But there are a lot of people who don't like rap and had some negative things to say about rappers in general, and we had a long discussion about it on /guild one night, after which I promised to share a collection of nerdcore.

So yes, as I said, nerdcore is smart people writing clever rhymes about geeky subjects. There is nothing exclusive in this statement, and nothing to suggest that the only smart people who write clever rhymes are nerdcore rappers, or that people who don't write about geeky subjects aren't smart. It is simply a fair and accurate description of what nerdcore is: smart people writing clever rhymes about geeky subjects. No need to draw any completely improper conclusions from it.

Let's all just enjoy the music, shall we?

It was the emphasis that made the phrase stand out, otherwise I would have just skipped over it. By highlighting one trait, you suggest that other rappers don't share that trait.

Like I said, I never thought you meant it that way, and I wasn't ever combative, so no need for a 'sanity check' as I was pretty far from being insane.
