Yup, all working now.
I don't know how the on board ethernet got frizzled but it's all systems go with a brand new $15 card :)
Glad it's all better. Personally, I try to avoid on-board anything. If one component fails, no biggie, just add a card like you did. However, if one component fails big time, you may need a new motherboard. It's a lot cheaper to add a $15 NIC than a $100-$200 motherboard!

Thank you everyone for your support during these trying times. I am happy to say that Motherboard and Card are doing fine.
