Memphis winning was my only way to win my pool. But I can't say that I care that much thanks to two reasons.

1) I had no money riding on it.
2) I picked my bracket almost entirely at random. My competitor picked his according to the Kabbalah (or so he claims). So neither of us have any sort of prognosticator pride on the line.

So I guess the moral of the story is, "If you have a fatal weakness, it is not good strategy to just assume or hope that your enemy will not exploit it, lo, to your very ruin."

The ironic part is that the two players that missed from the line against KU are the only two that did not struggle during the season, actually shooting free throws quite well all year. The collapse went far deeper than a handful of missed free throws. They did manage to save Ashley Furniture from another going out of business liquidation sale, though.
