I think Beam's solution may work for you there too, Bren:
"I met them at the local S&M club." You have no idea how many follow-up questions that prevents.
On a more serious note: Most of the airlines will change departure times for a fee. Its usually around $50. Not that anyone wants to spend an extra $50, but if its that or canceling the trip and still having to pay the full price of the ticket...

1. I have curves. TORRIN.
2. If San Antonio had an S&M club, I might like living here.
3. ...well I guess it doesn't matter what the ladies think of me, because they avoid talking to me ANYWAY.
4. Hmmm...in "college." That might be best if I end up joining a different health club where new women will ignore me.

When I went to Curves, everyone else there was a teacher and was not remotely interested in having any form of discussion that did not involve how hard their lives was because they were teachers. Any attempt to change the subject from teaching, and how hard their lives were due to choosing this profession, was met with a blank stare and, "So anyway, in my classroom yesterday..."
Yep. Lots of those at mine, too.

Did you try starting the discussion with
"This one time, at band camp..."
I find it works well in breaking into conversations and pulling people off topic.

Time to move!
Time to move!
If I moved near you guys, it would take Stranger like 5 years to let me anywhere near the house. And then like 6 months extra before I could use the bathroom. Extra penalties for not liking seafood and quoting Happy Monday songs.

Nah, I'm sure I could negotiate an exception for you actually -moving-.
