Yeah, basically THE biggest fooferaw in taxation today surrounds the fact that the vast majority of old statutes, federal laws, city ordinances, tax court cases, etc. deals with income, sales, and all other revenue-producing activities as relevant to the transfer of tangible personal property and/or specified services.

As we become more and more a nation driven by a service economy rather than an industrial one, these statutes, laws, etc. become more and more outdated.

While I can't speak for income taxes, I know this is an massive and hairy problem over here in the world of transaction based taxes (sales, use, gross receipts, occupancy).

For example, I am currently up to my tits in a project on how to tax the different kinds of software in Tennessee.

What she REALLY meant was "the sainted tits of Jaina Proudmoore," but she was too busy to type all that out. I'm here to translate. ;)

My interweb fiancee is fluent in Ing. <3

Also, of COURSE I said fooferaw. I was raised in Arkansas: either it's a fooferaw or a hootenanny.

Sometimes there is a fooferaw AT the hootenanny, and then it's on.

Is that right after someone says "hey y'all, watch this"?

No, usually right before. ;)
