You realize that its a long drive, right?
Your looking at about 12 hours at least
(and that's knocking 3 hours off Google's estimate...)
Yes - I know it's a long drive, but I think I would rather take the road trip and actually see something along the way. I'm trying to justify an extra day or two or vacation, and you're making it sound all bad. :P

Hey, I love an extra day or two vacation!
I can even tell you where to stop on your way up!
You will drive right by Metropolis, IL (You'll love it!)

I'll be there for at least one of the days... it's 1 1/2 hour drive for me....
So... should I start looking for flights? Are we all set to do this thing?

I'd say so. I am still tentative right now, I have to work out finances because of having to move.

Everything is set. The dates are in place. I'm working on getting the hotel reservation website set up, for some reason the system hicupped on me today, so I will try to call them and see if I can work it out.
That should be up and ready to go by middle of next week, and I will give further instructions then.
But if you need to fly, I would start looking into flights now...

OK, here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for!
To get reservations to the hotel in St. Louis, go to this link:
http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/groups/personalized/STLDDHF-FEST-20090717/index.jhtml
It should just take you right into the reservation under our room block.
Here's my suggestion: If you think you may be coming but you aren't sure yet, reserve your room and then cancel it closer to the date. That way I can increase the size of the room block if we need to as soon as I know we need to. There is no charge for you to cancel your room as long as its done within a couple days (I think its 24 hours, but you can read the agreement).
The problem is, there is a game that weekend, so we need to increase or change our room block as soon as possible so the hotel doesn't run out of rooms.
If you find out that the room type you want (two beds or one) isn't available, let me know as soon as you find this out through a PM so I can get stuff shuffled around.
Let me know if you have any other problems/questions!

I have made my reservations. BTW, Hom, who's going to schlep the xbox and RB equipment to St. Louis??
OK... the Orgy Room is booked, as are flights for Fox, Amanda, Kae and myself. Let the games begin!!
PS - If anyone with cars is willing to haul our asses to/from the airport on Friday/Monday, let me know and I'll send you our flight details.

I know I will be driving folks too and from the Airport, several times Friday as needed.
I will probably need some help depending on how many we have flying in and how close together the flights are.
I am sure this shouldn't be a problem.

I was hoping that one of the driving folks would schlepp their's along. I hadn't completely worked this out yet... any volunteers?
Shadian and I are ATTEMPTING to make this year's fest, as it's a short jaunt of a drive -- it just all depends on our work situations and it's too soon to tell. D: We have the room booked, so we'll just cross our fingers. But we can tentatively volunteer Rock Band stuff.

OK, got it!
Linn and Shadian are so dedicated to being there that they are willing to quit their jobs in order to bring Rock Band to St. Louis!
Thanks guys!

Booked my room and turned in leave forms at work.
Don't own a Xbox.
I should be in my truck so I could shuttle 1 or 2 peeps....and a whole lot of baggage. I can be there early Friday if needed.

Bumping this to remind you to go ahead and register a room if you think you may go. You can always cancel the room if you end up not being able to come, but I can't get more rooms if we need them if the hotel runs out of rooms (which they haven't yet).
I don't really need an accurate count right now, but I don't want someone to be without a room.
Oh, and there should be no hold charge on your card, if you book now, you won't be charged anything until you check out of the room. (If you find this not to be the case when you book, let me know and I will call the hotel.)
The link again if you missed it:

Hom - how we looking on numbers?
So far its looking like about 17ish
(There are a couple of names that I'm not sure if they are single or double occupancy because I don't recognize the names).
There are also a couple who have said they are planing on coming that I know haven't booked a room yet.
In an unrelated note. I found out that Budweiser does brewery tours. I wanted to know what people thought about trying to do that instead of the riverboat (personally I thought it would be cool to see--and I think they still do tastings at the brewery).

(I am emailing for more information as we speak...)

I am not huge on beer... especially American beer. :p However, I would be willing to do whatever the majority is into. And I know a lot of VSers like beer!

I agree. I'm not actually a huge beer drinker myself, but this tour seemed interesting.
You get to meet the clydesdales, too apparently...

That tour sounds interesting. I'd be up for it if the majority wants to do it..

If you make reservations, would you mind PM me and letting me know your real name and how many people you have?
That Will make it easier for me to keep an accurate count of who is coming.
Also, in a couple of weeks I'll be putting up some survey type posts to make sure I don't put too much time into planning an event that people aren't interested in.
