Eyeshark and I started this, and our work has been trumped by this newcomer!

I don't know if any of you have seen this, so here's Yahtzee reviewing Minecraft:

I plan on buying Minecraft when I get a bit of extra money. I want to build an idylic little village with trees and flowers. :D

I'm still finding new things to build. I've fallen in lave once and the latest was getting caught on fire. Warning: always carry a bucket of water. Once I was on fire I just had to stand there until I died because I had no water handy to put it out. Once I found the spot I died all my stuff was gone... :(

I might bore you all with more screenshots soon. When I purchase FRAPS I'll probably bore you with videos too.

I also have a working headset now. I haven't tried it but I should be able to mumble now.

I've just built a monster grinder so I am going to stay logged in while I sleep, or at least as long as I can before I get kicked off. I should soak up the loot. I'll let you know how it goes.

Of course, if you want to take down the server just do it, or kick me first, whatever is best.

We signed on last night to inspect this and push you around. You, sir, are insane. What keeps the lava hovering over the blocks like that? The ladders?

Well, I finally caved in and bought Minecraft! I'm really enjoying it, even though I spend most of the nights hiding in holes or in my home base. :D

I'll try joining up with you guys tonight. I'm not sure how to do it yet though. I'll figure it out!

Yes. I may have an issue with spiders hanging up the system and the multiplayer is buggy. I noticed that being afk did not garner the expected drops and all I can figure is that the spawns stop if there is no activity after an unknown time. I'm going to work on a grinder on a single player eventually to compare the operation.

You may have noticed the wooden building with the glass encased waterworks? That is also a mob grinder that needs work. I built the mob spawner too close so nothing will spawn, plus it was intentionally so small it would probably not spawn anything anyway. I used some TNT to blast the beginnings of a lower chamber so that this grinder will hopefully work in the future. In this one, the poor bastards will drown to provide me their wares. Muuuhahahaha!

Hang in there guys, there is a client update! You will temporarily see an error message about the server being out-dated. I need to be sure to do some research on this so that i don't erase all of our stuffs!

Should have the server updated and running again by tomorrow!

* Lots and lots of infrastructure for Statistics lists and Achievements
While most of the code is written, statistics and achievements won’t show up until the next update. We didn’t quite have time to finish them this week, and didn’t want to delay the update longer.

I think the spawn point reset isn't in yet. It's supposed to come in with stats for 1.4_01

I've already tried taming a wolf. I haven't quite figured it out yet. I was using cooked meat instead of raw and I don't think he liked it. I ended up having to put him down :*(.

Is it bones or meat? I've heard bones for the friendly ones and meat with the mean ones.

Well then, it's a good thing I've got a stock pile of bones for. . . no particular reason. :D

Alright, the server has been updated to v1.4. ill leave it running for a bit today and as much as possible as usual. just got on for a sec to see if it was working and verified the version number. i successfully backed up our world and everything is still there :D.

havn't seen any wolves yet, and i tried to sleep in a bed but it didnt seem to change my spawn point (according to my compass).

There's been several updates and you've had bad weather eye, so if you are having trouble with the server I can't imagine how you'd get it back up. Do you think it will be back up? I've just been playing my solo games.

yea sorry the power went out recently and when i powered back up and loaded the server it threw up some new error messages in the log and wouldnt let me connect. i need to figure out how to get it back up without losing any of our progress.

It was a close call but I got the server updated and back up and running.

I had actually lost all of our progress at one point.... luckily I had it on my old hard drive so I was able to retrieve it!

Looks like some cool updates! (cheebs, weather, etc)

Ill keep the server up as much as possible, my isp has been flakey lately and it tends to mess with my wow.

But when you are wanting to play try to connect and see if its up!

I haven't even tried to log on if forever.

POWERED RAIL (BOOSTER RAIL)

The Powered Rail is a block added in Beta 1.5. It was added to replace bug boosting, but as of Beta 1.5 boosters still work. It's operated by Redstone currents. In its unpowered state, it acts as brakes for any minecart which crosses its tile. In its powered state it will accelerate any cart to pass over it, up to the maximum speed of 8 m/s, at which point only a small amount of additional momentum can be added with powered rails.
