I seem to be attacked by dragons everywhere I go. This morning I was walking down a path and got ganked by a stealthy dragon. Roar->Dragon Breath (x2)->Dead.

I have been playing a garrulous, drunken, giant, hairy Nord who has problems with his right and left hands.

Ancient Dragons are serious business, man. Also, I have found anything in the game hardly as satisfying as using a power attack to finish off an undead with the Dawnbreaker and watching them explode in blue flame (point-blank fireballs to an enemy that has asked for mercy is a close second). Cannot stop playing this game. Worth every penny.

Worth every penny.QFT. Even with the occasional, abrupt, no-error-message crash to desktop (which I've seen in every iteration of Elder Scrolls), Bethesda wins again. Geeze, I love this series.

Alright you skullduggering jackanapes, I gave in to temptation and bought this this morning.
But what the fuck- buggy is right. I finish the opening sequence escape from town and go to the blacksmith like the guy tells me to. I see an Inn, walk in, and immediately the townspeople inside kill me. Now I'm stuck in this infinite loop of respawn and insta-kill by townspeople. I'm 20 min into the game.
WTF.

It's been mostly bug free for me. I just had a CTD for the first time after trying to fast-travel. I have also had some MOB warping, and a couple of hours ago I shot a mammoth, popped into a cave to grab some loot I left behind and no sign of the mammoth corpse moments later.
Oh yeah, I read that if you have your weapon out that can be taken as hostile. Use "R" to sheath a weapon if you have it out.
If it's not your weapon being out, I would start over, Brendar. I seriously have no idea what happened. Are you sure you didn't accidentally steal something? Check your inventory for an item that is red?

I wonder how much I'm missing having it on xbox instead of PC (there's no Mac version)? I enjoy it, but it isn't blowing me away. Maybe I'm missing the social element of WoW.
Some hints for players just starting, if you want them.
Guardian Stones
There are guardian stones at the end of the path after the final opening sequence. If you head straight for Riverwood, the stones are to the west of that village along the path next to the river.
More Guardian Stones
The Guardian Stones are clearly marked as to what they do. They are the Thief, Mage and Warrior. There are 18 skills in the game, 6 for each of the main class types. If you have the Thief Stone blessing active, then the 6 thief skills get a 20% bonus when using these skills, and so on for the other 2 stones. What this means is, you can save up certain skill ups if you want to maximize leveling. For instance, don't make potions unless the Mage is active. Or, don't use Blacksmithing unless the Warrior is active. This isn't necessary but, if planned well, will speed leveling progress. Especially for some of the more tedious tasks, such as transmuting (Mage-Alteration) and the others aforementioned
Little Secrets Near The Starting Area
There are several bandit camps or other points of interest very near to Whiterun. In fact, there is a bandit camp just below the Jarl's keep on the north base of the town. Some of the townspeople will give quests regarding these areas but some do not have quests. If you see any pools or ponds, check them out for crabs to practice on and other goodies. There is even a skeletal arm holding an interesting item out of the water, ala The Lady of the Lake. Northwest of Whiterun is a round structure with some interesting things inside. Almost due north of the town at the base of the mountain is a cave with the transmute spell and several iron nodes.

I've had 4 CTD while trying to fast-travel. I would estimate about 20% of the time. Anyone else having any issues with stability?

I've had a few CTD doing any number of different things. There is a big patch coming after Thanksgiving so maybe a few of them will get worked out.

Anyone want to trade me the PC version for the XB360 version? I bought XB thinking it'd be more interesting for Jenny to watch me play on the TV, but this is not the case, so I'd rather have it on my PC.
If anyone wants to make the swap, pm me and we can exchange mailing info. I'll also include something to make it worthwhile for you.

I rolled a new toon (wood elf magicky archer) and went non-linear...it is so much more fun now.
Double-fisted destruction is rad; I feel like Darth Sidious zapping mobs.

Good move. I've only scratched the main story, just wandering around exploring and doing the side missions. The plot will be there waiting for you when you feel like it.

The plot will be there waiting for you when you feel like it.That's been the best feature of the whole Elder Scrolls line, IMNSHO. There's a mountain of content that has nuthin' to do with the main quest line. I replayed Morrowind last month, and found yet more stuff I still hadn't seen the first few times I played it through.
And proof that I'm Bethesda's plaything: yet again, the thing that finally prompted my lazy, "this'll do for now" approach to PC upgrades is one of their games. I'm not normally one to chase the biggest, baddest gaming rig, but last night I just had to upgrade my video card. Dragons die so much more impressively, now. :)

It's amazing what a few well placed perks can do for you.

I'll tell you a little secret I've discovered with dragons: head for a village. It doesn't have to be a big place, a farm, a camp anything. If nothing else the npcs will distract the dragon while you carve up its ass. :)
I had a dragon come out while I was near Solitude. By the time I made it up to the gate where it was snacking on guards it was almost dead.
I started out as a sneaky mage but I found that once I cast spells everyone knew where I was. Then I tried an all-out warrior. Still not doing it for me. Finally, I gave in and made my usual sneaky snipeing thief. Much better! There's something imensly satisfying about picking off a group of mobs one at a time while they all search for you.
Edit: It's also fun breaking in to the palace at night (where they just made me a Thane for killing a dragon) and stealing all thier stuff!!

So, I bought a PS3 (which I will share with Pew at a later point of time). I bought skyrim. Now I need a tv, since I don't actually have one. I'm working on it, okay?
