Tossing in my own 2 cents, I also haven't done Baron, but there is a reason. I personally don't feel ready for it yet. I feel that my gear is not up to snuff. However Phouka and I have farmed BRD thoroughly and except for wanting to kill the Emperor and do Jailbreak we're done there.
Next stop is DM, once again we will be farming that to get better loot. With the occasional Strat Live run, because as of last night me, Phouka (Edra), Ava and Palirio with Ava's friend Cuzo 5-manned Strat Live with very little problems. The only difficulties we encountered were caused by hardware, and tab problems. Everything else was smooth and easy.
I agree Gleja, the game changes a lot at 60, as Phouka mentioned leveling becomes a matter of itemization rather than XP. But while there is phat gear dropping in Scholo, Strat Dead and UBRS they can be a pain to get without gear from BRD, DM, and LBRS.
I think we need to take a step back, farm BRD, DM and LBRS. Get people geared out in good blues and even the occasional purple, and then move unto the other instances.
If anyone wants help with BRD, DM, and LBRS let me know. I only know BRD really well at the moment, but I'm willing to run with people to get them geared out and to teach them the instance. Lyceum is a huge pain for example, but thankfully I think we've got it figured out.

Personally I think gear is fine. But gear wasn't the point of my post. What I was saying was this:
Up until 60, WoW is a game you can mostly play solo with the occasional help from a group. After 60, the game is all about the group. And for us to succeed, we need to come together as a group. Hence my efforts towards mooncloth drives, alchemy and other group endeavors.
Having these strategies and pants and trinkets is all fine and good. They all help. But they are basically worthless if we're not a group.

Gleja is also my Warcraft hero!
Basically that's what I love about this guild. Because we all have fun grouping, it's fun even when we wipe. I tease Zan about how our main goal the second time we did Strat was to NOT make his gear all red (... I think we failed in that goal too), but we had a really good time, and we did quite well on the Baron, I think. Linnaris and I teased Glej about gear mainly because we wanted him to know we would be happy to make him something better if he wanted it, but really, he did an awesome job with the gear he was in. There's also the example of our 20-man Blightcaller. As I was saying in another thread, I had done that fight once before, back on ZJ, with a full 40-man raid, a lot of whom were from my friend's hardcore guild. They were all geared up in Tier I and II sets, Bloodfang and whatnot. Half of that raid died. We only lost three, and I think like Gleja says, it's because we were a group. Mistakes were made of course (note to self: waiting until last minute to pop healthstone is a bad idea, as a lag spike or a crit may result in your throat being removed by an angry blighthound), but we were a group, and we moved as a group. Good times!
I'm all about getting better gear, because it always feels good to wear something new and shiny, but I definitely want to avoid it becoming all ABOUT the gear. One of the reasons Linnaris and I ran awayyyyy like the cast of Monty Python and the Holy Grail from ZulJin was a guild that WHINED whenever other guilds or groups successfully downed a boss... because, and I quote, "the more people that have this weapon the less cool it is."
I don't think that's what Clan is saying at ALL mind you; he's just saying he wants to make sure he has a realistic shot at the Baron before risking the repair bill and time, which is totally understandable. Thing is, I do think we have a realistic shot though, and of course for Glej and me NOW IT IS PERSONAL AND THAT DEATHKNIGHT WANNABE IS GOING DOWN.

I hate red gear...I'm doing our next Strat run naked!
Ing you are absotutely right. In fact, you're all absolutely right. We've got a great group of people here, and if anyone wants a certain piece of gear, we'll get it for them...eventually. And we're going to have a damm fun time doing it! Yup, wipes happen...and sometimes are very amusing!

Certainly Ingomar, because I tried to state clearly in my post "I" don't feel I'm geared for it. Your mileage may vary. *grin* However I am farming the instances I mentioned before and I do feel there are some people, myself included, who could use better gear.
But in the end, what it comes down to is having fun with the game. I really enjoy running instances, and part of that enjoyment is getting the bright shinys that drop, especially when the shiny is for me.
If y'all feel your gear is good, then great! If you want an upgrade, then as I said before, the more the merrier for farming runs.

I'm sorry if my post seemed to be stressing the importance of items above everything else. That's not at all what I meant. I really enjoy grouping with people and overcoming challenges as a group, especially if that group's composition is unorthodox.
The reason I mentioned running through "lower level" instances (BRD, LBRS, DM...) is that there is some really cool stuff that can be gotten without having to wipe to red. And while I'm not all about the items, I do feel I'm more effective in my class with the sweet gear I've gotten in instances. I think it has helped me in instances a step above BRD.
As Talbon said, last night we *farmed* Strat Live, and it was a lot of fun! I attribute much of that to the bonuses from my items, in addition to the skill of my fellow party members (which was rather impressive I must say, Pal and Ava and Cuzo. We all know Clan sucks, of course). We were only like 10 trash mobs away from the final 2 bosses, and we had to stop because we lost our MT and wiped before getting into a new rhythm, only to find the zone repoped. I think that's pretty cool, myself. I'd love for other guildies to be able to have such an experience. In my humble opinion, that starts with getting decked out in good shit and learning to overcome challenges in smaller groups so that wipes happen only occasionally. Naturally, pots and other nifty tidbits are well worth considering, too.

I'm not sure if Phouka and Talbon are seeing the other threads on our instance runs?

I didn't mean to imply you guys are loot whores, because you weren't in Scholo.
Like our leaders say, our guild tends to be like those two gophers from Looney Tunes all, "No no no, after you! Oh no no no, after YOU!" It's hilarious.

But sharing the oranges was my idea, don't let her fool you! <_<

I wanted to clarify here, too: what I mean when I say our gear is good is that we have good enough gear to make a realistic attempt on the Baron.
I don't mean that none of us want any upgrades ever again, ever.
