How did the shadow protection potions work for you guys who made it to Baron on the last outings? Or does his AOE just bleed that dry if you get too close to 'im?
And Medallion of Faith, totally, to make it six on one instead of five on one. (Also I just enjoy live Strat, so I'll be pestering you guys to run through at least part of it with me on non-outing days when I'm less busy. :D)

Well, we're not running the Baron daily or even weekly. We are going to these other places & getting upgrades. The nice thing about Ripp's dungeon rotation is that it gives us time inbetween Baron runs to improve our group dynamics and gear.
Zan's now moot point # 1: Yup, you're absolutely right. Just by design of the current dungeon rotation, we're all improving (gear & knowledge).
I refuse to agree with Clan that we OMGMUST get better gear before we beat the Baron, JUST ON GENERAL PRINCIPLE. Because now, like Zan said, it's totally personal. XD
Zan's now moot point #2: Holy crap, that did sound a little like Clan. Please forget I said that! The last couple of times I've hit the Baron, I've actually been a little nervous about it, because we've failed to kill him so many times in a row. But now, SCREW IT! Pants? I don't need no stinkin' pants...I JUST WANT TO KILL THE BARON...over and over and over again.

People may want to run over to the blasted lands and pick up some of the buff consumables from there. They're fairly quick to get and plus 50 to a single attribute is nothing to shake a stick at. I believe they stack with pots, but I'm not sure. Just remember you can only have one actve at a time.
Good point. I'd forgotten about that sweet +int buff.

I will totally hit Live Strat any time. I needs me that Postmaster set!

I like picking on the sappable enemies that we can thrash soundly, THE MANTLE IS A NICE SIDE BONUS. But srsly do let me know about the shadow prot as posted above, I'm curious.
Also, the other thing that comes to mind for piling on every little advantage -- maybe try to keep a few Whipper Root Tubers in your inventory, they heal something like 700 to 900 hp. Not as good as a healthstone, but they're instant, and they're on a different cooldown timer than the potions and can save your life in an emergency when you're burning through everything else.

I will also hit live Strat whenever, because it's nice to feel like I can actually accomplish something.

Gathering Crystal Restores from Ungoro is good too.
Did we end up closing ourselves on the wrong side of the door? THAT WAS HILARIOUS.
I gotta check out these Blasted Lands/Un'goro buffs, I don't think I've ever done either of those.

For Blasted Lands, you're looking for the two blood elves hanging out by the graveyard. They offer you a crap load of collection quests. Each one will give you a buff item. The quests are repeatable.

The Ungoro ones are more irritating, since you have to gather a variety of crystals & there's always one kind of crystal that you are missing. But the results can be helpful.

hey, who wouldn't like to have a priest in every group. But the point was trying to get away from the 'holy trinity' because we have a lot of druids and rogues, etc., and are decidedly short on priests.
We're all friends and nobody wants to tell or be told that you can't join this group because well.. we needed room for the priest. We had a rogue, paladin, druid, warrior and warlock. I'm still not sure why we got him so low on the first try and then blammo, dead. It was literally that immediate. All was well then whoopass.

Heh, I still have no idea what the hell 'holy trinity' refers to, and frankly I don't care! Sounds like it's a *standard* way of doing something, which we by no means are trying to do. We're more creative than that!

And no one ever will. If so, Ashu will go sic 'em!

One thing we better add to the list is to make sure your pet is on passive before walking into the Baron's room. ;D
The reason you need to stand on the skeleton piles is that the floor DOES do some AOE damage no matter where you are standing, even if you are not fighting the baron. It doesn't matter what skeleton pile you're on as long as you are on one. Here's the thing - this doesn't matter at all to a warrior because the floor damage is shadow that drains mana. This is devastating against a paladin or a caster, but it doesn't matter to rogues or warriors, so they can stand on the floor itself just fine.
I think our only really big problem so far, to be honest, are those skeletons. We have not been doing a great job of managing them. They're tricky bastards! :D but I noticed last night they healed the baron IMMENSELY. However it is done, they need to go down almost immediately upon spawning. This makes some AOE DPS class like mages extremely important.

Hell, I make sure mine is passive when entering the instance...
And Jamisia is absolutely right, the focus needs to be the skellies and the AoE'ers trying to kill them. Without the skellies, I don't think these posts would exist (because without healing, the Baron would be a pushover for how damm good we are!). Aren't there enchants / abilities / weapons that prevent the target from being healed for a short amount of time? Or am I thinking of a different game?

Good question - I think there is some ability but he's probably Immune to it. That's our biggest problem so far, I really think. The last two times we've attacked him we've gotten him below halfway, easily in fact - but the skeletons bring him back up to almost full health quite fast. One thing I thought of last night when we had Kundera is that maybe we should have put down a hunter trap where we planned to pull the Baron to? would a fire trap help at all?

Last time the Shadow resist potion helped alot. One thing I noticed was that some of the potions were on the same timer as my Major heal pot. I remember towards the end I was losing health and I saw that Jak was low on Mana so I popped a health pot to buy him a few seconds to get his heal off and then I couldn't use my invulnerability potion. (I didn't use it at the beginning because I didn't want it to interfere with my rage and gaining agro.)
The second time we hit him was odd. I charged, got 2 sunders and tried to drag him to the corner and he just stood there. I then sundered him again and he took off after someone else. I got agro, got him to the corner and bam, the party was down.
As for suggestions, I don't really have any. It seems like we've just been getting hit with a string of bad luck. We should be able to take him down. As for myself, I'll make sure to get him positioned correctly. I'll make sure my ass is facing the party to increase my heal range. Since we are all on vent, yell out if I need to move or be aware of something. Being so close to the wall, all I can pretty much see is the horses chest. (moving the camera gives me wall)

I have a poison that reduces casting time and also a poison that reduces the ability to be healed (wound poison).
The holy trinity is priest warrior mage, I believe.

Wound poison and mind-numbing would be great for him, it just depends on if he's like some of the bosses and immune to everything USEFUL besides flat out damage, like stuns.
