Having served in the Navy and doing a few deployments, I can understand how hard it is the last couple of days before you ship out, although six months on a submarine was probably not as tough as what you guys will be doing. People always wish the the best to the soldier but often forget about the wife or husband that stays behind, in some ways I think it's even harder for them.

So. Nomad left today... and I want to drink copious amounts of booze and eat really bad food... or a shitload of chocolate. I'm hoping it doesn't come down to that. Really.
I'm not sure what's going to happen after today (timeline of events is a little fuzzy) but I'll do my best to keep you guys updated until he can log in himself.

Nomad just called from Kuwait, they landed safe. It's 1 a.m. there, so that's sorta weird. He's got some training to do and he needs to find the internet tent, or something. Then it's on to Iraq and we don't know much more than that.
And I need to go cause I'm a little bit sad..

I was in Kuwait on business a couple of years ago and met some guys from the Italian army. Really nice guys. We went out to dinner a few times and it was a lot of fun hanging out with them. Their camp was in Kuwait and they would go into Iraq every day. Such interesting stories they had! But my point here is... there are some nice people over there so I'm sure he'll be ok. :)
