Etiquette guidelines is much more palatable--people should be polite because it's the right thing to do, not because there's a law about it, but at the same time, I don't feel there should be a gag order on the chat, kna' mean?

I also find the terminology 'cut down on chat in the guild chat' similar to 'cut down on swimming in the swimming pool.' If you don't like or are not interested in what's going on, introduce something new. And if you'd prefer silence, then there's the option of turning it off also.

That said, I do understand about linking and so on, after all, just spamming links doesn't really qualify as chatting at all, so.

That's what I love about this guild when I first came on. All anyone on other guilds would do was talk about how to work on their character or demand help from others (I ask politely). This guild however, on my first night I became known as the muffin man, met some very nice perverts; and learned to take anger away from Canada, and put it towards Christians. I accomplished all of this by socializing with my guild mates, and by reading what others have to say. My point is, If we can't have completely random, retarded, or drug-induced conversations, even if they're one-on-one, it takes away so much of what is great about this guild.

Speaking of muffins... you haven't brought any in quite some time. I think that's the REAL problem. Slacker. ;)
