The collection is 1408, I think. Same title as the recent movie adaptation of one of the stories. A good collection, overall. I tend to read in bed at night, which puts me to sleep quickly, so short stories FTW. :)
Everything's Eventual. I have always loved King's short stories most and best of all things. He's admitted himself that he's prone to rambling, so the control the short form gives him creates a better narrative, I think.

@ fox
I've read the first couple in the Dark Tower series. Loved the first. The rest were kinda blah. Much prefer IT. Scared the bejusus out of me.
Without giving anything away... starting with book 5, more and more of King's other works become involved in the story.
It's the kind of thing that you read in a public place and want to explain to strangers sitting next to you.

I'm reading Good Omens by Gaimen and Pratchett for the sixth time right now. Great humor!
They did release a comic for The Dark Tower. Stephen King's Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born. It's a prequel written by King and Peter David. Amazon has a pre-order for the hardcover trade.

Blink -- Yep! Sarah Vowel. :) I've also read a few David Sedaris books...they're just so good to pass time while reading about nothing, basically.

lol, yes it's the book with the rabbits. I saw the movie first myself and it inspired me to read the book. It's my most favorite book of all time!
I laugh every time I see the movie in the kids section. :D

I just came upon this thread and had to add a few thoughts.
"Is that the one about the rabbits? I had a yen to see the movie recently and it completely freaked me out."
This had me laugh since my kids recently told me that they were freaked out by this as well, i used to make them watch it with me all the time. Love the movie and the book.
Stephen Donaldson is my favorite author with his Thomas Covenant Stories highly recommended by me.
Being in the comic Business means i read about 100 titles a month so to recommend a few would have to include:
Walking Dead
Fables
Y the Last Man
Ex Machina
Preacher
Sandman
Alias
Cap America
Just to mention a few. I am leaving out so many great comics. Go into your local comic store and enjoy.

I'd add the Anita Blake series (nice art), the Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. GNs (made me spit my drink out once), Pride of Baghdad (goes nicely with the Watership Down ref earlier), Runaways (the earlier GNs), and I've heard good things about the Young Avengers and Invincible. I also really digged the early Authority issues and I've been meaning to get some of the new Midnighter issues.
Bladdes, I...have a letter from Jhonen Vasquez that he wrote me after I wrote HIM to tell him that I hated him for canceling Squee! after only 4 issues.
That's all.
That's all.

I've read a bunch of various series and they've all had their up and down points. There is one book that I read over and over... Magic Kingdom For Sale!

Terry Brooks is seriously the nicest man ever ever ever. I have a soft spot for Shannara, but the Word and the Void books are some of my all-time favorites. Armageddon's Children was just lovely.

I'll add my .02.
Joel Rosenberg's Guardians of the Flame series (The Sleeping Dragon, The Sword and the Chain, and The Silver Crown). If you were ever a gaming geek and wished you could be your character, this is a good series for you.
Mercedes Lackey and her Heralds of Valdemar books. Nothing like mind-speaking horses and the people who ride them.
I've also read and can reccommend Brian Lumley's Necroscope books. Vampires and psychics and monsters, oh my.

I LOVE Mercedes Lackey! She's my second all-time-favorite author. I've got almost all her books. I love her bard series.

Love her. But then I like slashy boys and weird furry books. ^^ That book about the fire mage. Burning Brightly I think? It made me weep like a little girl. You'd probably like Tamora Pierce too. Especially the wild magic books as they have a similar talking to animals thing.

I don't remember if I cried when I read Burning Brightly. I DID cry when I read The Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay. Wow, that was an emotional trilogy.

Everything Guy Gavriel Kay does is art. I still cry every time I read the end of Lord of Emperors, or The Lions of al-Rassan.

I liked the first bard book. I always pretend in my head to be the Skull Hill Ghost and try to eat poor little Rune. My favorite would have to be Kerowyn, tho. She's enough of a hardass to trip my trigger.
I did read the Tamora Pierce ones and liked them. If you like YA books, try Meredith Ann Pierce's Darkangel Trilogy. :)

I just finished the Anita Blake:Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K Hamilton... sci-fi/horror/romance. Vampires, zombies, sex, guts and gore whats not to love? >.<
Ah, The Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop is very good as well.

I'm in the middle of Hunter S. Thompson's "Hell's Angels" right now. Interesting stuff!
