Thanks for the link Mayhew. I did enjoy the movies, but any "adaptation" of the works of JRR generally falls in the omg why category.

I somewhat expect alot of brooding and dark lit shots of the people who kinda almost look like the actors from the movies.

Ok, here's the thing. I have no doubt there is other life in the universe. Statistically is pretty likely. Whether that life has developed the capability of interstellar travel is what is in doubt.
Let's say for now that the government has proof and is covering it up. Honestly, I approve of covering it up. Any entity that has the technology to travel the distances required is going to have the technology to completely destroy us if they want to. Now, keeping that in mind take a close look at the racism in the deep south or the religious fanatics in the Middle East (or apply those two to any other areas of your choice) and think about what folks like that would do to an intelligence from outside the human race. I don't necessarily have faith in the government to do the right thing, but I do know that there are plenty of idiots out there that would jump all over something like that and risk wiping all of us out.
In the end, knowing one way or the other won't affect my daily life much. As long as the alien technologies like microwave ovens, microprocessors and velcro keep getting released I am good.

A person is smart enough, but the people are stupid. Now, I am not terribly inclined to jump to the president's defense, but all the articles I've seen on this are quite clear about the President's non-involvement. How is this his fault? Theres lots of dumbass shit that elected officials do, but really? This? I'm a little more concerned about the massive amount of money we're hemorrhaging, or the lack of support for the strategy in Afghanistan. Between this shit and the swine flu... I swear I might just stay here in Iraq.
