I activated mine today- It's been sitting in the drawer for months and I was lazy about it while I wasn't around- Sorry I didn't see this before

I have an extra unused one in the drawer because I didn't realize you can bind two accounts to one.

Yup, I got freaked out when the first hackings started and ordered one for Maub, me and my son. Still don't quite understand how such a small bit of plastic can send a signal to Blizz HQ to tell the server what numbers it generates, but hey...it works and I am safe from having my hard work sent down the tubes or hurting the guild.

I understand that Blizz is working on getting mobile phone apps out there. I think there's one that will work on several of the dumb-phones, and then the iPhone app.

For instance, while there is not yet an authenticator for Android or Pre, there is one that will work for RAZR V3i and RAZR2 V8.

I just got the authenticator it to work on my iTouch, proving that it does not in fact need any sort of connection to blizzHQ in order to work.

It doesn't need a live internet connection but there is a "Sync with server" feature. I think it would be very rare that it would get out of sync but if you find your code not working for some reason that would be the first thing to try.

If I remember correctly when I had to learn a bit about cryptography, the authenticator is using an RSA algorithm to generate the code based on time and a key unique to the authenticator. Bliz has the matching key, so it knows what code should be generated by the authenticator at any given time. I assume the sync is to correct the time on the authenticator.

I don't know that it matters and I would never go into the guild bank anyway, but I have the authenticator as well on all of my accounts.
