Oh sure, the ONE type of tank that CAN be a tank and yet still solo effectively without respecc'ing ;) Don't make me walk all the way up those two floors to your office, mister!

Now that I've hauled Shaerl's fuzzy butt over from my original server, he's available for tanking. I'll need some help on the finer points from the other tanks, though -- his tanking experience is mostly MT in 5-mans pre-BC (and controlling runaway core hounds in MC), but not in great volume. I've got the basics of 'hit first, switch targets, taunt and smack, switch back, hold aggro for the MA, charge anything that goes after the priest' pretty well covered, but anything more complicated than that I'll need advice on.

His gear is also "solo Druid spec" (because that's mostly what he's been since level 1), so it's a mix of tank and DPS, with probably a bit more emphasis on DPS (I R SNEAKY!). Any advice on routes to outfitting for better leather-wearer tankage would be appreciated. :)

(And ... uhm ... with all that said, I'll be out of circulation a bit more this week - got family staying with me so gaming hours are a bit reduced. :o )

Send me a whisper next time you see Shadian on and I can give you a lot of advice about gearing up and what you'll be looking for as a druid tank. It really isn't that hard.

Well i have played my tank a bit the last little while and wow, it takes a long time to level in the mid 40's. Ahn is 46, a little over half way to 47. Having a little trouble finding good spots to quest due to the fact that all but 2 of my quests are now in the yellow range. I will be playing her a bit more to see if I can work her up to being useful.

On that note... I will let you know if I hit any runs (ZF) that I am going to need help getting through :)

Seconding the appreciate your tanks thing here.
I know it's disappointing when you don't get a run you wanted done because there was no tank, but this is where people get tired of logging in, and dread logging in, because, like Rin, they know someone is going to ask them to tank on a night they just wanted to solo or hang out, and they feel bad saying no.

It's not that anyone said anything or deliberately guilted anyone, it's just that most of our tanks are genuinely nice and helpful people, and they feel bad when a run doesn't happen because they did not want to go. This leads to them not wanting to log in, and dreading something that is supposed to be fun.

I guess i should also mention that Ahn is not yet tank spec'd. Right now she is 17/20/0 and I have one point I am not sure what to do with yet. I was planning to change to tank late 50's maybe.. or late 60's. I haven't entirely decided yet. It depends on how much assistance there is available to help me level once I switch to prot. From what I have seen, levelling as prot spec takes about 400 times longer than any other way :) and I would kinda like to get Ahn to 70 eventually.

You may want to get with Rin on that. I'm not sure if it is absolutely necessary to go prot to tank the 5 mans. You'll probably have to carry around a couple sets of armor.

You definitely don't need to go Prot until you hit the high end raids. Personally, I went Arms to 60 and a decent Fury/Prot build until 70 and never had a problem tanking any of the 5 mans or soloing. Doing this will require you to have a tank and a dps set of gear. Just so you know, while using the Fury/Prot build, I was putting out some 5k crits. I have the screen shots to back it. :)

I was worried about slow solo leveling too with some protection specs. I looked at Rin's talents and basically copied them. Not full protection but a nice balance and it has proven to work well with solo and 5-mans. Have brought Arathorne from 60 to 66 with that build and will keep it until I reach 70 and collect some cool tanky armor.

Just remember that until you get to a point where you are tanking raids (like Karazhan) or heroic instances, you don't have to go full prot - you can do half Arms and half Prot and still tank the 5 mans perfectly fine. That way you can also solo. Rinader can give you a lot more detail on this, he used a hybrid build for a LONG time. :)

My Feral Druid Tigress is up and coming. You should hear more from her in the near future. I helped tanks Ramps and did not do too bad, cept for the time I tanked the two mortal strike mobs and the same time and died in 3 seconds lol.

Yes, that's right, bitches, I am 52. And I've been full prot since level 10. You can solo a prot warrior JUST FINE, wh0res! Just like you can solo a holy priest. If you are awesome.

I'm not in Outland yet, but give me six more levels and I'll be nipping at your heels and ninjaing jewelcrafting recipes from Fox. In the meantime if anyone wants a tank for the mainland instances, I'm enjoying any opportunities I have to work on my aggro management skills. Right now ST is a great challenge.

I've yet to find a good talent breakdown for warriors in the style of the one for warlocks at WoWwiki. Anyone know of a good one? I just respecced, and dropped Last Stand and One Hand Weapon Spec...but I still don't feel like I'm making the most of my spread.

Naomee is always happy to tank whenever she is needed however as I've mentioned before, I live on the West Coast and 7PM game time is 5PM our time and since I start dinner around 5:30 to 6:00PM it makes it hard for me to tank for a group at that time. I know it is late but if anyone has a run that starts in the afternoon or after 9PM game time I would be glad to tank. While she is arms/fury spec'd right now I could go back to being proc spec'd if there was enough tanking to keep her busy.

Let me go ahead and say this one more time :) It's hard for the staff to gauge and post late night runs for west coasters simply because we don't really know your schedules or availability. But if you don't see a post up there for your time, PLEASE feel free to set up a run! At whatever time is convenient for you. I'd LOVE to see Naomee and Plasmo and Torrin and others get into some of those instances at 9:00 or later server time.
