Yarb and Yendor- angrams of my real name, Rodney Bray. actually a kinda neat full fantasy game name together, Yendor Yarb but we only pick one name in this game so it serves for two toons.
I love the Yarb name. ^^ Reminds me of pirates.
Blink = from the X-man character. It's been my OL name for over five years. o_0
Philistine = one of my two favorite insults (plebian being the other). I read it somewhere and always liked how snobby it sounded.

Thought thatâs where you may have gotten that name. That was a character that had huge potential and was killed off way too fast. Iâm glad they added her & Morph in the Age of the Apocalypse line, they were great.

I maintain there is no shame in an early death when it means you pretty much took out the entirety of the Phalanx by your onesies.

If anyone is reading the Marvel's Annihilation: Conquest books... The Phalanx are back and kicking some serious ass!

I stopped reading about 6 years ago, though I was thinking of starting jumping back in recently.

Where I live, there is a place called the Comic Cave and it is the only place you can get comics. Growing up, the local grocery had them. I used to look at them while mom shopped and buy one. What happened? I can't imagine, with blockbuster movies (Spiderman *3*, hello!) that comics are not more available. So, is it just my town? The local bookstores and chain bookstores don't carry them. Unless I just don't see them somehow...

The problem with selling comics these days is that there's really not enough money to be made. None of the comic book stores in Ottawa sell comics exclusivly. They things like toys, models, role playing books and other stuff. The store that I go to actually sells snacks and drinks! The Wizard's Tower, which is the store that I go to, also hosts numerous games like card games or D&D sessions. Anything to get kids into the store.
It's a much, much tougher market then it used to be. I have to special order some of my Hellboy comics because there's not enough demand for them to be in the store's regular shipment.

OK, so I like this thread its pretty rockin... so here's mine:
My original Alliance toon was actually Hemglock, so I will start there...
Hemglock: Several of us at work decided one day that gnomes should have silent g's in their names, so I thought of Hemlock (like the poison) would be a good evil sounding name for my Warlock. It also worked because it had "lock" in it, like warlock. And after I created it, I realized it also had Glock in it, like the gun. I work with a bunch of cops all day long, so that seemed accidentally fitting as well.
Dooli:
I thought hunter-works with animals-Dr. Doolittle-Dooli... o.k., pretty stupid, I know...
Gothica:
I kind of thought she looked like a goth when I created her... so alas, Gothica.
Homreker:
I left her for last because she's my favorite story (I can't tell you how many times I have had in game messages asking about her, so here's the story). I really dig redheads, and I married a blond (Arachne). There is always a joke around the house about me digging redheads. Anyway, so I decided to make my first female toon, and make her a redhead. Now, I play WoW a lot! and I am on the road so much that it means I play WoW a lot-a lot, which means I tend to spend more time in many weeks playing WoW than with Arachne in RL... So... it seemed only fitting to name my female redhead toon: Homreker!

I don't think I know any just comic book stores anymore.
Most of the places I go to are gaming stores selling warhammer, D&D and card games. You can also find really weird board games there.
With a couple exceptions the stores don't make much money off of the books and models but they set up tables and arrange tournaments that bring people in who either then buy in bulk, spend money on concessions, etc. The one I go to also has about 6 gaming computers set up that they rent out by the hour.

I'm not a big fan of superhero comics but I like the new-ish wave of comics that don't take themselves too seriously. You should try Nextwave if nothing else. Evil villain + frilly dress = love. ^^
I don't read much X-Men these days but I love Runaways, Fables, Y: The Last Man, and such. I also :cough: secretly read the Anita Blake comics. Mmmm.. naked vampire action.

Wow, you have great taste in comics. Have you tried Kirkman's Walking Dead, or Brubaker's Criminal? I get Walking Dead in trades, but what a great book!
Whatever

Ing is named after Ingmar Bergman, because Ingmar seemed like a good dwarf name.
