I read a lot, A LOT, of fanfiction these days. Mostly Transformers (since I'm a total geek) but I've also enjoyed Hellboy (what little there is), TMNT, Babylon 5 (G'kar forever! whoo!), and all sorts of other stuff. Really good fanfiction (with good grammar, spelling, and characters that you DON'T feel like burning at the stake) is so hard to come by!
The only really good fanfic that I can recomend at the moment is Vaeru's Transformers: Juxtaposition at Fanfiction.net. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3465930/1/Transformers_Juxtaposition
The spelling and grammar are excellent and the OC isn't made of pure light and (more importantly) ISN'T shagging the author's favorite character. This fic is so good that people are making fanart of it! If you like fanfiction and you like Transformers then you owe it to yourself to read this fic! Trust me. :D

I just finished the Anita Blake:Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K Hamilton... sci-fi/horror/romance. Vampires, zombies, sex, guts and gore whats not to love? >.<
Ah, The Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop is very good as well.
I agree with your statement. Any series that has cockrings is something I must explore. Bishop is writing a new one in that series now if I rememeber correctly.
