I'll have to bring a light jacket. I'm not gonna be used to 65 degree weather. :) Also might be a little cool out in the bay on a prison island at night.
The high temps here for this week are 97/100/101/101/100.

San Francisco summer! The city is infamous for its unpredictable weather and its many microclimates. It will be warm, sunny, and breezy in Oakland- but if I look across the Bay (about 2 miles) I wont be able to see the city because its in a cloud bank rolling in off the pacific- 20 degrees colder and raining. But I could also hop in my car and drive 20 min east over the coastal range and be in 100+ degree dry heat. So be prepared!
For our purposes: temperatures will be in the mid-70s to low-80s during the day. Its usually foggy in the morning and evening, and sunny in between. Night time temps will get down to the lower 50s, and there is almost always a stiff coastal breeze cooling things down further. Day is hot, night is cold. It may rain or get cold without any warning at any time of day. So wear layers- have a jacket handy, good walkin' shoes, and sunscreen/sunglasses. You might be chilly with shorts or sandals, but that's up to you.
As far as appropriateness, there are probably fewer than 5 places in all the Bay Area where jeans would be inappropriate, and we're not going to those places, so don't feel obligated to bring dress-up clothes. That being said, we are going to some nice restaurants, so if you want to bring some slacks and a jacket or a nice dress, you go!
I'm heading to the hotel to confirm reservations tonight. I'll also be sending out maps and itineraries so you can all track what is going on.
Can't wait to see you all in a few days!

It's summer: I will be wearing shorts, dammit. I'll be damned if I'm going to fly three hours south only to wear jeans.

Just FYI,
I confirmed that one of Oakland's most illustrious community members, Stanley Burrell (you may know him as MC Hammer), is a regular at Mimosa, the bar that I live above.

That's because you might be a Canadian terrorist. We all know Canadian terrorists can't wait in line (see our ingenious plan here??). Or we just can't manage shit which is more likely...

In my experience, this is somewhat true. Terrorists are pretty lazy. Sure, you get the occasional OCD sociopath, but those are rare. Most are of the vein that if the dude has to stand in line for a couple of hours in order to take a shot or blow something up, he'll probably just give up and go back to buggering his buddy or watching porn. There is very little "Islam" in Islamic terrorists.
Now Canadians on the other hand...

I thought you needed insurance to get free pat downs in this country.

OK...I am expecting real-time updates. Please take pictures when Frenial gets picked up by La Migra and bussed to Tijuana.
Oh wait...you all are in California, not Arizona...never mind.
Don't forget In-N-Out Burger!

Apparently reservations do not mean the same thing in California that they do in Georgia. Perseous and I are in the hotel across the street now waiting for the lushes to get back from their whine/wine tour.

Naw - we are good. I am a Marriott Rewards member too. I am set in the Marriott across the street. Thanks though!
Pics! I'll update this album as we take more. It was great to meet a few more VSers in real life... especially Raeb!
