More recent operations, a night-time raid...

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h278/bpmeara/NightRaid.jpg

I am the executive officer (2nd in command) of a reconnaisance troop (125 infantry recon troopers) in the 173rd Airborne Brigade. I was initially trained to lead an M1A1 tank platoon, but transitioned to this job in light, spec-ops world as a part of the transformation Army Europe was undergoing. I am a student of urban warfare, counter-insurgency, close combat, and manuever warfare. Day to day, I lead manage and motivate some of the most lethal, highly trained soldiers in the US Army. Not a day goes by where I don't thank God (or whatever) for the opportunity I've been given to have this job. More than a job, its a duty, a responsibility, and a priviledge.

Thankfully right now I am not about to go to Iraq or any other such unpleasant place. This unit is probably going to go in June, but very shortly I will be moving up in the world to a new assignment at the Joint Multi-National Training Center, teaching our allies how to fight counter-insurgencies. Because of this fortunate position, it affords me a lot of time to relax and live a normal life and play video games that I didn't use to have because of our optempo and training cycle. I'll still occasionally disappear for a few days or weeks at a time, but its not as bad as it used to be.

I love my job.

My official title is "Strategic and Cross Deparmental Process Analyst". It is teh boring. I write work instructions and help people figure out how to get things done when new apps/systems are introduced into the company. Most the time I rant about managers.

I am a teller at the Bank of Awesome. I have an English degree that has not helped me at all and I'm currently thinking about going back to school for something completely different. I lead a very boring life. :)

I am "pursuing my PhD" in clothing design, which really translates to Graduate Teaching Slave... As a teaching slave I teach classes in portfolio preparation and computer aided design to college juniors and seniors for far too little money. My current boss is bipolar and paranoid, throws tantrums, and regrades every student assignment after I do. I guess that's what I get for living in the recount capitol of the world.

Eventually I want to design functional clothing, i.e. tactical gear, firesuits, ballistic armor, spacesuits, etc.

My title is 'Client Technical Lead' (Sr. Engineer). This means I get to be 3rd level support for 5 or 6 major clients, backup on 3 more. On call 24/7. I actually like my job, the pay is good, I work remotely, and don't get charged vacation time unless I'm gone for more that two days. Even then, if I have my laptop and cell phone with me, and get called at all, I don't get charged. I also retired from the Navy 18 years ago. Traveled all over the world, had half a dozen jobs or so while on active duty. Only managed to get shot at twice, and that was not a big deal at the time. (Participated in the South East Asian War Games on a very minimal basis.) Jobs varied from AirCrew survival instructor to Fortran Programmer and VMS System Manager. I've also been a cop, a photographer, a courier and a cook. Life's been fun so far..... Brendar is now officially my hero.

I am about to finish my first semester of graduate school. When I'm not struggling to write a story that has some measure of actual worth (failing in this so far) or an analytical paper about the significance of cheese in Shakespeare's romances, I'm overseeing the comptar lab or writing order cards for old books at the behest of an ancient literature professor. In my third semester, I will probably have to teach.

Brendar, you like hanging your M16A1 out of your HUMVEE don't you? Come on, admit it.

I am a Radiologic Technologist working in the heart catherterization lab of my local hospital. We do heart caths and interventions as well as electrophysiology studies including ablations and ICD and permanent pacemaker placements. We also occasionaly perform vascular procedures part time. Overall a nice job except I am the only non-physician male which can drive a guy bonkers on occasion. Sometimes the smell of estrogen is overwhelming.....

Malinger, that sounds like a DREAM. Of 500 some Cavalry Troopers in my squadron, we have a whopping 1 female officer (in intelligence. Also recently divorced and on the prowl) and 3 female soldiers (all in logistics support). My specific line combat troop is 100% male (125 dudes). The testosterone is incredible. After being in this kind of environment for over 2 years, I find myself in embarrassing situations when I go home on leave: I just forget how to act appropriately around females (or any civilians, for that matter). You mean its not ok to fart, scratch your nuts and comment loudly about various sexual acts you'd perform on people? Its seriously like a bunch of animals. And they always test you. As a new platoon leader, my soldiers didn't respect me until one night I broke taboo and drank in the barracks, outdrank a bunch of them, puked with the rest, and the wrestled one of them down, knocked him unconcious and fractured his skull. When I think about leaving the Army, I have to imagine a job where I can't do that kind of stuff, and its incomprehensible to me. I used to be such a nice, well-mannered guy!

I'd just as soon NOT be inside that bullet-magnet, thank you.

Heh, if you like dealing with PMS or hearing about sale prices on kids clothes and groceries then it is a dream job...

Oh yeah, you get to reach up high for everything too.

So i just found out today that one of the 3 female soldiers has some very interesting circumstances.... She is the only hot one in the unit, so everybody wants her, but she is happily married. Unfortunately, she and her hubby are having problems concieving a child. She goes to see the Doc, he puts her on some medication, and orders her to GO HOME AND HAVE SEX THREE TIMES A DAY. EVERY DAY. So shes always coming and going from work, and when you DO she her, she's really smiley and chill. But now I just cant get it out of my head, that every time you see her, she just got fucked. Thats insane. I want that doctor.
