I respected Pepinty protection because it seemed everyone wanted a tank, but that does not seem to be the case and I liked him better fury. So I am going to respec again back to fury and try to get his gear up to a respectable blue.

Obviously the tanking situation isn't where we'd all like it to be. So before we have all the willing tanks speccing back to DPS specs, let's try and see who all we have available. If you're a Warrior, Paladin, or Druid and want to dps or heal then don't feel obligated to tank. I think we need to establish who is interested in tanking and try to help out more. Druids are about the only tanks that can actually farm effectively with their tanking spec. So I think those of us that can farm and quest need to step up and help the tanks out (this includes me).

So, that being said, let's get a new list together of who we have that is interested in tanking and what their gear goals are. This includes up-and-comers who plan on tanking when they get to 70. What instances do you need, etc? I think if we all work together we can get this tank crisis solved. Shadian the Bear reminds us, "Only you can prevent a tank crisis"

And this is exactly why we need to get these tanks organized. If someone takes a vacation or needs to earn whore money we shouldn't have everything get cancelled because of lack of tankage. I'm sure if we work together we can get this problem solved. We recruited but that doesn't really seem like the ideal situation because it still seems to be the same tanks as we had before.

I actually love tanking but have a bad case of "don't wanna suck". Hey at least you were close to the right level, I still remember running a baby (what were you, level 11, 12?) Persh through VC and having to remind her of two things: A. She was not 70, and B. I was a Rogue, and leather, unlike Plate, could not stand up to the entire ship's wrath.

Don't even get me started on the horrorfest that was Gnomer!

I think that's a big fear of some of them.

However, the best advice I -ever- read for tanking was this:
"It is the tank's job to get aggro. It's the -group's- job to let the tank keep it."

As a tank, once you get that through your head and some DPS unloads way too soon, you don't feel so bad about a wipe.

Well, no fear of grouping but maybe fear of grouping with my tank *because* of inexperience. I'll be working on both of those issues this week.

Just remember that if you're interested in learning how to play the hell out your toon, this is the guild to do it in. Nobody is going to yell at you or insult you if you're not sure about what you're doing at first.

And if you're the kind of person who listens to advice and doesn't immediately go on the defensive, even better.

QFT. If you ask for advice and you get it, pls do not be a jerk and start wailing about how you are being 'picked on' for inexperience. This sort of thing does not tend to garner further advice, only the memory of how you do not like being helped! :)

Yeah, I had tanked maybe 2 or 3 instances while leveling with my druid to 70. If you're currently 70, and not quite comfortable with your classes tanking mechanics just yet, I would suggest blowing through the lower level instances in order to get a feel for tanking and working your way up. So don't feel bad about only wanting to tank Ramparts or Blood Furnace at your level. That'll help you get the group mechanics down and you'll progress at a much better rate.

On the otherhand if you're a glutton for punishment PUG Shattered Halls and learn to tank that way. If you can tank a PUG you can tank anything.

Another fun way to get tanking practice is to have Frenial join you and have him go all out in an attempt to pull aggro. He'll pull it and then you'll laugh as he dies. If Fren dies in a raid it's basically a good omen. So this way you can pull out everything you have to keep aggro or get a good laugh if you don't. Either way it's a win-win.

I do so love this guild. I have never seen anyone get mad about a wipe. (OMG, Shadow Labs the other day and the struggles/wipes we had.(And then Murmur on the first try!)).

Everyone has always been very helpful with advice or tips to anyone who asks. I will never get defensive about advice or constructive criticism.

I am very comfortable grouping with Amonsul and have learned a lot on how to play him from other, more seasoned hunters, in the guild. He still has much to learn. I'm sure I will learn much from our present tanks and will become more and more comfortable grouping with Arathorne as I learn my role. I'm not completely green but some still shows behind the ears :) I am working on him basically to be able to help the guild when another plate wearer is needed.

Just to let you all know... Shadian has accepted the position of Caterer and will be our official tank-helper. Please join me in welcoming him to his new postion. (Once Shadian's month of celebrity is up, he will be given the Caterer title in-game.)

Anything in paticular you need help with? Gear you'd like to hit up some instances for? We can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. You can tank the instances you need gear from, getting tanking exp. and phat loot.

Nothing in particular atm Shad. I'll look around the armory and see where my best upgrades should drop. I've tanked Shadow Labs and Arcatraz this past week with some VERY understanding and supportive groups. I'm getting a little better but I'm sure I'll have a few questions for ya.
