A Canadian politician has rather deliciously insisted that vast tracts of his nation were opened by "the relentless pursuit of beaver"

I feel that I should point out that I am not trying to start a Canadian political dispute on the Beaver v Polar Bear issue. If you feel this is too political, feel free to delete it.

They could have stretched this article out to cover more ground. So much possibility wasted. It opens with a home run:

A Canadian politician has rather deliciously insisted that vast tracts of his nation were opened by "the relentless pursuit of beaver", an agreeable concept that for some reason conjures an image of Silvio Berlusconi furiously paddling a kayak through white water rapids in pursuit of a fleeing supermodel.

You're welcome to use it.... but it's one of the words that's been floating around our site for a very long time. I'm akchuly not sure where it came from to begin with. Search for it in the little search button near the top of the page.
