I've been doing a little planning for Nakveigh... mostly weapons right now. The best non-unique 1H Axe I can get the moment I hit 70 is Gladiator's Cleaver.

It's a Season One reward. Has a cost of 18,000 honor and 20 EotS Marks of Honor.

At worst, I have to lose 40 matches. No problem if I run two a day for the next 3-4 weeks (with days off for good behavior). My question is on the honor points.

About how much honor, on average, would someone that sucks at PvP earn per match. I'm trying to figure out if I can actually earn 1000 honor per match. Will the 40 matches I lose give me enough? Or will I have to do so much PvP that I end up vowing to never go into a BG again.

No way you are going to get 1000 honor per match. On a good day I get mebbe 5-600 for a AV we win? And thats about as good as I can do (as far as points). You'll get the marks a lot sooner than you'll get the points.

Now mind you, this is from the perpective of a pally healer that PvPs in his raiding gear and hates honor grinding. If I were a bloodthristy killer like Eulalia, it might be different.

After you get in, win a couple, lose a couple, you'll have a good idea of the time it's going to take you. I find if I run AV for a few hours, I can get 1500-2000 honor. A bit less for AB (we lose a lot more).

It is an AV weekend so go in there and play, play, play then you can always go back to getting the marks. Honor will be more of a battle then the marks. I was playing last night and (if I remeber right...) I got 600 or 700 honor for 3 EoTS 1 win 2 loss. Like I said the number could be off I just remember thinking that's it??

My recommendation is to split the two. Get your 20 EotS marks and see where you stand on honor points. Do every BG daily that you can (an extra ~400 honor), but don't grind too hard if you're loosing. I'd say, at most three attempts at a daily. If it doesn't work, either hold it for the next day, or abandon it (that day! Don't wait until the next day to abandon!). Spend extra time in whatever BG is having its holiday weekend.

In my opinion, AB has the best time/honor ratio. Fights usually only last 30 minutes. AV -can- be fast or -can- drag, it all depends on who does what (I was in a 12 minute AV win the other day, and also in a one hour win recently -- I've been in two hour losses, but that was before the reinforcement changes). I don't think it's possible for EotS to be fast. And winning in there is a lot harder.

My one other recommendation is to not spend too much time WSG. If it's the daily, give it two shots, then bail. WSG can be a real time sink compared to the honor it offers.

If you can keep the wife agro down this weekend you can get 10k honor a day since it is AV weekend. Maybe more.

I figured honor would be slower then the marks. Considering how non-time-consuming it is to get S2 and S3 arena gear, you'd figure they'd make the S1 stuff easy to get as well. Meh.

I've wanted to get on the the black war mounts anyways... so i'll just start hitting up all of them. I may be a little more survivable as a plate wearer then I was as a leather wearer... but probably not much.

This will sound like stupid question... can I do all this from L64-69? Then when I hit 70 just to go the vendor and pick up my shiney purples?

Your honor and marks never go away. You can only hold 100 of each mark.

I have several pieces of PVP gear now and I always do the same thing:

1) Grind the particular BG to get the marks I need.

then...

2) Grind AV to finish the honor.


I also skip any PVP daily quests unless the quest is AV. The alliance simply lose too much to make the daily quests worthwhile if your goal is to get honor as fast as possible.

36,000 honor won't be a cakewalk, but the stuff I have gotten so far puts me well over that amount. Of course I spaced the items out over time.

For EotS, you are lucky if you can get 200 honor for a win. Usually it's about 180 or so, and about 80 for a loss. And the game will take 20 min.
For AV, you can get about 420 or so for a win and about 200 for a loss, and the game will also take about 20 min. Sometimes the games go a lot faster and sometimes the Horde forces a "turtle" which will slow things down considerably.

From the PTR patch notes:
--Diminishing returns on honor for kills is being eliminated.
--Honor will now be instantly calculated, and available for player use.

This should also help to speed things up when patch 2.4 comes out.
I don't know if they will eventually end up raising prices on some of the gear, but if you time it right this could help you a lot.

As suggested, I would work on your marks first. Maybe 2.4 will be out by the time you finish with them and getting honor should go remarkably faster.

I'll start doing two EotS a day to get my marks, and the rest for honor. I'd really like to get a Black War Tiger for this guy along with those axes.

I'll need 40 EotS, 30 WSG, 30 AV, 30 AB, plus 40,000 honor so I can get the axes and the PvP trinket.

I think this weekends BG is AV... so it'll be a good start.

This will slow down my march to 70 by a significant amount... but at least I'll have some killer axes once I do get there.

I hope one of our enchanters can pick up Enchant Weapon - Executioner from the ZA before then. I've heard that putting this on MH and Enchant Weapon - Mongoose on the OH is the way to go now. Unless someone wants to make a case for double mongoose like I have on Raps.

Being that I've never studied or spent much time doing PvP... I hate all of them equally. But yea... 30 WSG is going to suck. I plan on getting ubah wasted and running around swinging some big 2H at anything that moves. Especially since I'll be starting this at L64 and getting pwnd by everyone. Especially in AV where I read the bracket is 60-70, not the 60-69 that the other ones are.

PvP Purists will despise my attitude towards it. Meh. It's a means to an end for me. I just want my pretty axes and a black war tiger. Who knows... doing that much of it may cause it to change my attitude about it. I doubt it... but anything is possible.

AV is the best bet for pure honor gain, end of story. but it's also excruciatingly boring (at least for me).

you actually did used to receive thousands of honor per match. but that was when they used honor points to calculate rank, instead of as currency.

i pvp a lot but i don't pay much attention to relative gains 'cos i don't approach it with that mindset, generally. it's a way for me to blow off steam.

I found that when I play with Amanda in BGs, she's hated way more than Agnes. This could be because I turn random people into chickens. But I've decided that all these guys have exes named "Amanda" and just want to stab me over and over again.

Maybe they just hate the song. God knows I do.
