Okay, this is completely out of left field (as my posts on patch days usually are), but did anyone catch the New York Philharmonic's performance in Pyongyang today?

Truly inspiring. I had the fortune to see it broadcast live (about 10am my time), Dvorak's No. 9 From the New World has always been one of my favorite bits of classical music, and to see one of our best groups go to North Korea to bring that to them... was really something. I haven't looked, but I bet you can find it on YouTube. Not only is it a moving piece of music, but performed in that context, and in juxtaposition with the current shennanigans of our election, did so much to restore my faith in America and that what we live for is something good, that I just had to say something.

I couldn't help but think back to the days of Cold War when American and Western diplomacy extended beyond a 'troop surge' or NATO bombing campaigns- like bringing the Beatles across the Iron Curtain, what can really move people but their own hearts in response to something truly beautiful?

Its wonderful to see that there are still people in this country that think and act in such terms. Do yourselves a favor and see if you can find the performance if you missed it (since it was at like 4am EST you probably did).

I popped in my Berliner Philharmonic CD this evening and I am now enjoying it with my Cuban cigar and Belgian beer. Ah, the world is a good place when it all comes together :)

I found this, not sure if it is the one in Korea or not. However, I must say, I was inspired when I listened to it. Not sure I heard it before.

Once again, Brendar, you surprise me in a good way. Kudos.
