Do you go?
Well do you?
I'm trying to figure out how many people we have that are actually interested in 25 man content. We've managed to get Gruul down and with 2.4 Magtheridon will be much easier. He will drop awesome loot, a bag of epic gems, 25g each, and a non-unique 20 slot bag.
I'm thinking that we may not have the numbers interested to try this content anymore what with everyone taking breaks until the patch or expansion hits.
So lets see what we have.

I believe I've made the poll private so honesty would really help for scheduling :)
I also had a very long list for option three but I'm limited to 100 characters.
Picking the third reason isn't a bad thing.... there are tons of reasons why you wouldn't want to hit 25 man content and that's totally ok. Just trying to find out how many are interested... the "why" really doesn't matter.

My mom won't let me, but she's in her 60's and lives in a different state. So I don't listen to her. TAKE THAT MOM!

I love doing the 25 mans but having to stay up till 11pm (10 server time) on a sunday night is hard for me.
edit: Tuesday and Wednesday are the best nights for me since Monday is Arena. Sunday nights usually work for me.

I do late night on Fridays and Saturdays happily, but I am willing for a Sunday. Sunday early eveing /late afternoon is a great time. I like big raids and will join.

I'm a Go-erer, not a Show-er!
or something.
Dunno, I haven't picked a poll option because my schedule might change soon to a more raid friendly schedule (thurs-sat off).
As it stands now, unless you want to do that stuff on say, a Monday... I can't do much.
or something.

My question after I found out how many people are really interested is what days work best for people. We'll get to that :)

Since there isn't my EXACT option and I don't mind putting out here I will just post. :) I would like to go to the upper stuff to see it, once in a while, and try it out. However, I wouldn't ever want to take a spot that would otherwise be occupied by someone who is really, truly excited about it as a regular thing, and wants to gear up with the goal of seeing the next hardest stuff, because while I enjoy hanging with y'all and seeing the new stuff upon occasion, that level of challenge on a regular basis also represents a level of frustration on a regular basis that makes me Queen Consort BitchPants.

I don't think we have ever had 26 people say "I wanna go". That number is usually much lower and complimented by the people that say "Ok, if you really need me then". :)

While I certainly don't want the guild to lose its casual tone, I would love to experience more of the 25-man content. It seems like we're usually just a few people short. Hopefully, with the new recruits and people improving their gear in Kara etc. (and the increasing number of alts, which gives us a better assortment of class roles that a given player can fill), we'll be able to do these more regularly. I'd be willing to give them a shot once a week, but I recognize that might be a bit ambitious at this point.

Now that we pretty much have Kara on farm status, we should not have a problem gearing up our people.
If we can continue to get the right (Right for VS not for raiding) kind of people through our recruitment we should have more people to be able to pull off these raids without having to have too large a % of the guild on-line to be able to run them.

Can we sustain a schedule with weekly 25 man content and still be considered a casual guild?
There are reasons guilds that focus on this type of content have attendance requirements, spec requirements, and/or dkp systems. It is hard to field 25 people week in and week out, much less 3-5 days a week like some do. Especially if there are no requirements for being on.
I don't know enough about all this to really speak form an educated standpoint. The impression I'm getting is that a "casual" guild will have some obstacles with trying to consistently do 25 man content. The random 25 man event that people plan ahead for is very different then having every Saturday or Sunday night dedicated to 25 man stuff.
I want to do more 25 man stuff. I also want to keep farming Kara, hitting up ZA, and doing 5 mans. Can we do all of that and be casual? I don't have an answer to that.

I know that we've lost a few people in the last little while to fatigue and other reasons. I wasn't really trying to figure out what to change to make these 25 man raids work, I was just trying to get an idea of the numbers we were working with.
23 with 5 more that would come if they were able to. Those aren't bad numbers at all. (And Sapph hasn't voted yet)

I know that we've lost a few people in the last little while to fatigue and other reasons.
But what are those other reasons? You mention 'fatigue,' but can we count boredom and frustration under 'fatigue'? I would venture to say that there are a few people in the guild who may be bored with yet another Kara run, so aren't signing up for them anymore...but would still like to see the guild advance. I imagine that if we started getting runs together for some of the 25-mans, people would show up.

Ya, like I said at the beginning, there are a many many reasons why people wouldn't be interested in signing up. For the purposes of this post though, they aren't really relevant.

Me too, as long as it isn't like pulling teeth. I'm not interested in doing these if people aren't having a good time. But it looks like we do have enough people to hit them. The next step is figuring out how to make sure 25 people are available.
I was thinking that for the next Gruul's run I would post 2 or 3 options for days and times and have people sign up for as many as they are available for and then go with the time that works best for the most people.

I finally put my vote in! Been a bit busy and haven't had time to catch up on the forums. I love to raid.. I love to relax.. VS seems to do a bit of both. We have the challenge of our raids.. but we still don't pressure the members into anything they don't want to do. I love our flexibility. I know sometimes it has to be hard to be a raid leader forming a raid when you get 24 people signed up and if only one more.. sigh.. RAID CANCELLED. I'm glad you guys hang in there. I've done the hardcore raid schedule and didn't have a life, didn't like my guild members and wasn't really having fun. I stressed over my performance and attendance. Raid guilds work because they pressure members to be responsible and push them to give up other things so "they can clear an instance". I think the members of our guild have a very good outlook on things and realize this is just a game. I'm quite happy to participate in any raids we form, but I am just as happy playing around and doing 5 man groups. Count me in!

I think the best way for us to make these larger raids work is to put up a poll first. We'll plan a run 2 weeks in advance like we have been doing. I'll put up a poll with 2 or 3 potential times and a week before the date I'll change it to an official sign up linked to the Calander.
The one downside of this is that many people don't sign up for a run until a few days before it so that they are sure they are available. I think the number of people that need to have it planned further in advance in order to attend is larger though.

That's a great idea Fox. Will the poll permit a player to vote for multiple options?
