The South bracket looks very doable; howbeit being located in the same state as the number two seed is somewhat suspicious. I will blame Bush/Chaney/Rove.
Because I have adopted Memphis BBall (my alma mater, FSU, is more concerned with spring football practice), unfortunately some catastrophe will take place...perhaps a plague of locusts will converge on Houston, who knows.
Win the whole damn thing!

Seriously I have no clue what Pil is talking about.

I believe he's pulling for Memphis in the men's college basketball tournament.

I thought he was looking for advice on how to best adopt a young child from another state.

Well, personally, I am against anyone holding anything significant in Houston ever, but, considering UM has yet to play a road game this season, it seems fitting that they would have to win a road game to get into the Final Four. That's assuming they get through the first three rounds, of course, which is anything but assured.
As far as the locust... I think the fact that an elite eight game is being played in Houston is catastrophe enough. I will say this, though... Should the Tigers somehow manage to win it all, there will be quite a few people across the city of Memphis with free furniture.
They are in a pretty weak bracket, though.

I love this statement. :) I think this shall be my signature
I hear this on a daily basis, pretty much in every environment; which, of course, means that I have completely taken leave of whatever senses that I had remaining.

I kind of hope they lose, because I am the only one in my office who doesn't have them winning it all, and thus my bracket would be the winning one.
Yes, you heard correctly, I am willing to sacrifice the glory and free furniture of my entire city in order to further my own personal financial gain.
This is why the sorting hat put me in Slytherin.

My past with EPOR is long and storied. And embarrassing.
But at least I got Alucard.

On a somewhat similar note... last halloween my roomate went as Dr. Akula and NO ONE GOT IT.

Yes Pils, it is the room from Shadowgate that lives in infamy.
The story Torrin refers to involves the fact that I played the game in high school, and yet did not know that EPOR is ROPE backwards - despite the effect of the spell - until after I'd graduated college and met Linnaris. Linn and I were watching our friend C. play through the game on my old 8-bit Nintendo, and I commented that I'd always thought 'Epor' was a cool magic word. "Yes," Linn said, "It's 'rope' backwards."
I was shocked! and! amazed! and decided that I needed to call my brother and tell him this amazing revelation. So I called my brother, who was then still in college and therefore very, very drunk. So drunk, in fact, that his roomate answered the phone and had to put the receiver on the floor next to said brother's ear. Brother was, verily, so drunk that he confessed later that he didn't even realize the phone was there, and he thought I was somehow contacting him through telepathy.
Nonetheless when I said, "JL, you know that sign? In Shadowgate? That says 'Epor?'"
He slurred back, "Yeah, it's 'rope' backwards."
SO APPARENTLY I AM THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD WHO TOTALLY MISSED THIS.
I still say epor is a cool magic word though.

I played the game on an 8088 with DOS 3.11, methinks.
Been a long time and too many beers ago.
That is a rad avatar; makes me want to find one that says "EVOCARE"

In the end, I am sad for the people who will be sad, but pleased that my city's defeat will result in my own personal financial gain.
I picked KS to win it all in my office pool.

It's true. In place of my heart beats a shriveled black lump of pitch.
Although strategically, I have to say I am really impressed with Kansas' coach. Memphis has known all year that they had a problem with free throws, and I guess just chose to ignore that and hope other strengths would see them through. Then, Kansas brilliantly capitalized on that weakness in the final moments of the game to beneficial effect. So I guess the moral of the story is, "If you have a fatal weakness, it is not good strategy to just assume or hope that your enemy will not exploit it, lo, to your very ruin."
