Has a cool name and looks cool. But would it be faster than a solid state drive? I heard that for speed that is the way to go.

WD VelociRaptor: 300G. MSRP: $300.
Super Talent SSD: 256G. MSRP: $6000.

You decide.

SSD is still on the "slower than expected" side. It all depends on the way the data is accessed. For random access, SSD is faster (faster seek), but for sequential access, SSD isn't there yet.

As for the drive under discussion? You better already have a very hopped up system for that to even make a difference to you.

I've started to look at new computer part. My current computer is only a year old but I'm sick of it.
ASUS P5N32-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Crucial Technology Ballistix BL2KIT12864AA804 2GB kit DDR2-800 PC2-6400
3x 32GB raptop 10k drives in raid 0 (I don't care about redundance. Just want fast)

I'm going to keep the processor, 4GB of ram, and the raptor drives. I've never liked the motherboard I had. The First one was DOA and this one just sucks. I have an 8800GT video card sitting in a box that I had problems with. I'm going to test in my new system once it is built and if it still has problems I'm going to RMA it. My coworker just got this. Seems like to much. No need for 3 SLIx16 slots.

I want to get a new modular power supply but I haven't found one I like yet. I currently have the Ultra ULT31851 X2 X-Connect 550W but the newer versions got horrible reviews. I like just using the cables I need and not having the other ones clutter up my case.

Is the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128331 a good motherboard to get or do you recommend another one. It is finally time I build a machine. I am sick of the one I have.

X48 is supposed to be decent, and I've had good luck with Gigabyte boards in the past. Though, I'm sure you could get a great board for less.

Again, check Anandtech for reviews.

Thanks for reminding me about Anandtech. I totally forgot about this. The board does cost a little to much.
