I have noticed that the site has been going down nearly every day around 2pm. I've contacted our service provider and they are aware of the issue. I've been battling the problem for about 8 months now. If it's not resolved in the next couple of weeks, we'll be moving.

Yeah, today has been much worse than usual, unless it's something at my end. Maybe it's the total awesomeness of all the screenshots dazzling the server???

Yeah, I threatened to leave last night so they're working on getting it fixed today, hence the bits of extended downtime.

Database error in vBulletin :
mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections
=======================================
Hello,
If you are experiencing errors regarding the max_user_connections this is an indication that your web site is misconfigured, your application is buggy or using persistent connections or that your web site has simply grown in popularity so that it is making use of all available user connections. These restrictions are set in place to ensure a fair, stable and reliable environment for all users on the system.
You may want to run through the following list so as to ensure that your web site is configured most efficiently.
- Each application that interfaces with a database should be using its own individual MySQL database username to connect to the database. Sharing a single database user with multiple applications will result in you prematurely hitting the set user limit of 15.
- You should not be using your system username and password for authentication purposes within your applications configuration. This will also result in premature consumption of set limits.
- You should ensure that your applications are configured to connect without Persistent database connections. Contact the developer of the application for assistance if required.
You should also review our Resource Usage Policy as this contains important information that you should know and understand in order to ensure a successful web hosting experiencing with Site5. Thank you.

If any of you know of any great, cheap hosting providers, by all means let me know. I'm currently shopping around and am leaning towards going back to hostgator... though they are in the middle of a big outage right now thanks to a fire in their Houston data center. That's what they get for hosting with The Planet.
I'm also going to check with Mosso again and see what kind of rate they can give me. Last I checked they were quoting me at $40 a month... but I think (hope) I can get a better deal out of them since they're part of Rackspace.

Do you know your bandwidth/storage needs? I've been pondering a VPS at http://www.slicehost.com/ -- everything I've read says they're good.
Depending on your needs, I have a co-lo that I can offer space/bandwidth for free. However, you'd need to pay the vBulletin license and we might have a few server tweaks to do here and there.

I hear that pie servers are pretty fucking stable.
Great find, Beam! I think we may have found our new home.
Thanks for the offer on the co-lo but I'm such a paranoid control freak.... and I have quite a few sites that will be moving with us. I may pick up a second cheap hosting provider to offload some of our space/bandwidth needs if we go with slicehost.
Thanks again!

Well, we are officially new members of slicehost. I'll be configuring/hardening the vps for the next couple of days and hopefully be ready to move us Wednesday or Thursday.

As always, your money is welcomed. Only the majority of it goes to coke and whores. The donation button is on the home page. THANKS!

Only a majority? Thats some weak overhead. I thought I was totally contributing more than that. Well there goes my plug...

Please let me know what you think of them. I've pondered a small slice there.
No problem at all, and I know how you feel. I've always gone it my own because I'm also a paranoid control freak. :)
I've also used http://shinjiru.com/ before, but that was for some 'special' needs... I don't think you'd want to use them.
