After Beta on AOC I am skipping it, seemed ok but overall been there done that. Has anyone been following Warhammer online? I enjoyed DAOC in it's day and lord knows GWS will supply a ton of lore and story from over 20 yrs pen/paper.
If you aren't aware/sure what Warhammer is about well Paul Barnett explains it better than I could: http://youtube.com/watch?v=fWvAznIRVLA
Thoughts?

I have already pre-ordered the "collectors" edition (my geek is bigger than your geek) :p . I hope they do not fuck this up; it will be fun playing a truly evil (EEEEVILL) greenskin for once. The wholesale slaughter of bunny rabbits, poisoning, burning, sacking, stampeding townfolk and raping cattle.

I was in the beta in the very early going for Warhammer.
Nothing special, and since I never have played any other Warhammer type game the geek factor for me is very low.
I already have a Fantasy MMORPG so I don't need another.
Now if they had made it based on Warhammer 40k I might have been more interested, at least it would be slightly different then, run kill 4 rats, get a new sword. Probably would be kill for robots and get a new gun, but at least it something.
I have Tabula Rasa which is ok, but I just can't play to MMORPG's at the same time, besides the money factor they just take too much damn time.
Unless they invent a fantasy came that is so good it makes WOW seem like Space Invaders (good luck BTW) you won't see me switching.

I'm a long time warhammer player so I am definatly interested in it... just depends on how it's done. Mythic learned a lot (from their mistakes) in DAOC so this might be much better, who knows.

Heh, that's how I feel about LOTRO...Although, like DD, one MMORPG is enough for me, and WOW makes me happy.

I have read something aboot a Warhammer 40K MMO...which would be rad; I think it has been over a year since hearing anything else, so 'tis probably vapour atm.

I played Tabula Rasa for a bit, fun for awhile but once ya hit max level there was nothing to do - they had a "come back free weekend" recently so I logged in and found that the game was more stable, broken skills were fixed and the UI was improved - however there was still zero content for max level. Ah well :(
I agree that 40k would be a nice change of pace from fantasy but Ive played the aforementioned Tabula Rasa, Earth and Beyond (ugh) and Anarchy Online so another Fantasy based MMO would't matter for me.
MY concern is when developers make new worlds to explore they run out of content for them. MY hope is that basing the game on the Warhammer universe will give them a wealth of ideas to draw upon and be able to push out new things on a more regular basis.
I have a dream...

If I could have one thing in a new MMO, it would be that raids were not micro-manageable down to a few select classes and builds that make or break an instance. If somehow code could be written to include serendipity and ingenuity beyond statistical averages for CC, DPS, aggro, and healing...heh...chaos code.

It's on a shelf in my closet. I installed it, played for 5 mins and deleted it.
The CD was still warm when I put it back in the box.

Being once a devoted Daoc'er, I've been following the progression of Warhammer. EA Mythic is taking what they learned from Dark Ages and the RvR (realm vs realm) system built there and incorporating it into Warhammer.
Over the past few months, watching the dev boards and propoganda I'm seeing alot of similarities ... the ability for guilds to take and maintain keeps/towers ... the introduction of seige equipment ... they are rewarding the general population who sacks enemy towers/keeps/cities over the instance-based dungeon scenerios (intially that was not the case).
I've not yet ordered the collector's edition, guess I'm not willing to cough up a chunk of change for a few pve only items ... :) ... call me cheap!
But I know as the launch date hopefully gets closer, I'm going to be trying out Warhammer! Now I just need to figure out what healing class is better ... lol!
On another note, there has been some interesting notes on the Camelot herald boards about developing a new server ... going back to the old frontiers (Daoc'ers will know what I mean) rule set, still keeping the classes ... I'm giving it a close watch, I might be giving that a try also.

Hi Guys,
Lenlador and I just pre-ordered Warhammer. I wanted to know if anyone else planned on getting it?

I'm genuinely impressed. Surely one of the better beta (and hopefully launch) experiences I've had. Their patching process sucks ass, but come release they may have learned some things.
It has the humor and tenacity that the Warhammer storyline follows, which is great. Graphics are good, little dark (but I have only played greenskins so far).
It is of course a WoW clone in many aspects but has improved on the default UI a lot. It's kinda neat.
I have, of course, found some annoyances mostly related to combat mechanics but I will refrain from focusing too much on those until I try other class/race combos. My only experience so far is with a Squig Herder (and ranged dps is slooooooow)

Well Warhammer is live! I think Mythic did a pretty darn good job on this game, it has content for all levels of interest. PvE is mostly quest based, along with what are known as purblic quest which yield some nice gear.
Scenerios are much like the WoW pvp set up, basically capture and maintain the flag. They are lots of fun, and a quick way to level up in rank "lvl", and in renown <looks at Torrin> "rps"
Renown rewards also grants you some exceptional gear.
Open field fight is what Mythic excells at, they did in DAoC, and once again they have done it here. While most of the population is just hitting the Tier 3 areas, I know the battles/scenerios will become more intense.
Cons: The high populated servers can at times have an extensive queue time (I'm on Phoenix Throne), and that being said lag in the areas can be daunting with so many peeps running about.
All in All, I'm please with how the game is going!
Oh! and Mythic has taken a no tolerance to gold spammers/power leveling companies and are daily banning accounts, they also publicly do so with hangings, lynchings, etc ... Most of which raise cheers from the crowds.
So if you are looking for another game, I'd certainly recommend, Warhammer: Age of Reckoning.

I pre-ordered it and now have it, but have not installed it yet. I figured I would give it a month and see what it does. Also I'm preparing various things for the WoW expansion.
