Once I saw the "and it'll announce your achievment to your guild!" I pretty much tuned out. Here's what the first day of LK will look like

You are right. The in guild message might get annoying.

So perhaps my first addon (I keep threatening to write one) will be a filter for achievements. That would get annoying as fuck. I can just imagine watching for Mag's blast wave and ten achievements suddenly scroll by, then we all die. Yaye, achievements!

Hmm, I wonder if there's an achievement for dieing due to achievement spam...

So if you have already accomplished some of this stuff before the expansion do you get the accomplishment points?

Otherwise a L70 who already has max cooking wont be able to get the points of artisan cooking again etc..

As soon as you log into the next patch, everything you've done before then will be registered on your achievements. So, if you've explored all of Hellfire before patch 3.0, bam, achievement received.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why people were initially complaining about Achievements and the fact they spam (past tense?) the guild channel. All of the sudden, someone logs in the first time after installing Wrath, and they spam the guild channel like crazy.

I hope they've changed this.

There's an option in channel settings to turn off achievement announcements. It is VERY HELPFUL.

The only hitch right now is that sometimes things don't register fully -- if you don't have loot for an old boss, I don't think there's any way for the achievement system to note that you've been there in the past, so old dungeon achievements aren't always showing up. It seems kind of arbitrary in what it remembers and what it doesn't.

Yea I noticed that as well. I dunno how many times I cleared AQ20 but on PTR, apparently I never have. BS if you ask me.

Actually, I lied, it doesn't even register on loot. I have a couple of pieces of T2 from Drunken Runs and yet I have no killchievements for those bosses on test. My guess is they're still working on how the old stuff will register -- at least, I hope that's all it is. If I have to pull teeth to get an old raid group, I may sprain something. And yes, there are actually achievements for achievements. Usually with phat lewt rewards, too, like uber-special mounts, titles, or tabards.

It is, like, the biggest reason I'm looking forward to Lich King.

I will get a whole bunch of awesome gold stars for being, you know, me. It's like the designers said, "HEY? How can we make this game better for Stranger? I KNOW. Let's give out gold stars for finding obscure shit!" And then they patted me on the head and sent me on my merry way.

And I peed a little out of joy.
