Everytime I show Sapph a WoW video that someone has done she says I should do something similar.

I was brainstorming at work yesterday and I came up with a concept and a way to involve a bunch of people from the guild.

First of all I was trying to think of something interesting and different I could do with my very limited video editing skills and I realized that I would have to do something special with the audio. I have a lot of original music so I figured that I'd rewrite some lyrics and make a WoW song out of one of them. However, my songs are not written as comedy songs so there would have to be something more than just a song put to video images for it to be worth watching.

The idea I had was that the lyrics would be some kind of guild or PUG run that goes badly and each verse would be prefaced by a vent recording (only recording those people willing to contribute of course) of someone explaining the fight and then it going horribly wrong and having to deal with it.

The last idea I had, would make it extra special. I think the run should be in Heroic Magister's Terrace and it should culminate with someone ninja'ing the mount. The idea being that I'd hold a guild contest to see who gets to be in the video. Anyone that wants to be in it just has to run Heroic Magister's Terrace and run Fraps for the Kael'thas fight. I'd need footage of him dying and in the same shot seeing the loot window come up. Then text of everyone shouting and cheering in chat and then everyone does a /roll. After the roll is decided repeat the same shouting and cheering in chat so that I can edit out the real roll. Then say in chat that because one person passed you're all going to pass and then roll.... and then the person that won the edited-out-roll rolls need and snags it!

Having that shot in the video I think would make a huge difference to how many people will show it to others and if its done right I think it'll be pretty fun to watch.

I'd write the lyrics to reflect who was on the run and use those people to record some vent conversations really late one night after many drinks for the verse intros.

I'm open to other ideas since I haven't started work on any of this yet and I'm also open to having anyone with better video editing skills help me with that portion of it. Mainly I want to do something with a song better than most of the songs out there and I'd like to make it something that everyone can get involved in.

Plus.... if we go with my proposal lots of people will get badges... and a third person in the guild will get the mount!

I'd love to get in on this but my laptop doesn't have enough juice to run both fraps and wow at the same time and my desktop is on the fritz....

For the record, you can record my voice and us it any time.

I'd love to also, however I might not be around for whenever this sort of thing happens.

Also, there are several projects I would like to do eventually similar to this. In vent3.0, what we are currently using, you can flag yourself as un-recordable. I haven't tested this setting, but from what I understand, it works. So if you don't wish to be recorded you can specify that within your own settings.

Anything after that is fair game!

I've been known to record some things over vent and all, with the exception of the 12 days of xmas project, have been scrapped and all recordings are deleted.

I just wanted to throw that out there. I know most don't care, but the people that do care, seem to care so much it hurts their inner child (no offense to those who care).

There seem to be a lot of people interested in being a part of it.... so maybe I'll rework it to be a raid.


I really liked the idea of the mount drop as a climax but maybe something with Mag or Gruul or ZG would work as well.

I can be the shaman that said "yes" when asked if they could heal, but shows up DPS specced wearing a healing set.

Okay, this is awesome. I would love to be a part of something like this.

That said, for the next month, my life is kinda...crazy. However, count me in for the next one! I think it'd be really cool to put out a string of these. And I could even dust off my video editing skillz (okay, so that was in college, like, ten years ago, but I was good!).

Plus, every video needs a Moonkin dance.
