I work at a 2-year college in Alabama. If it get's bad we will become a Red Cross shelter. We may even be sending our buses down to pick people up. I am on call this weekend because I have the keys to the buses and the FEMA supply trailers. Dude at work said "Aw. don't worry, it's gonna hit over in La." I said "And interstate I-59 out of New Orleans leads straight to us!"

Our mayor here in Baton Rouge has been stressing for days that "WE ARE NOT A SHELTER CITY! STAY ON THE INTERSTATE AND KEEP MOVING!!" We still have over 40,000 of New Orleans trashiest thugs living here and don't want any more. I pity any state that gets stuck with the trash this time.

My brother-in-law, his wife, and their twin babies may be coming up here to stay with us. They're in the Houston area.

Hmmm...I have to wash the guest room sheets.

The way it looks now, Houston should be fine. But w/ these things, they are subject to change.

We were activated as a Red Cross shelter today at 11:00 A.M. here in Tuscaloosa, AL. We've set up for 200 evacuees but may have to double that or more. I've heard most of the shelters in Birmingham are full. They may be sending them back south to us.

Interstate I-20/59 that runs through town, the northbound lane is bumper to bumper and crawling.

Currently hosting 600 evacuees, 200 more than we could set up for. Most arrived in buses about 4:00 A.M. The buses dropped them off and left. I sure hope they come back to take them home. The college will probably cancel classes for the entire week.

And Grim, I believe most that got off the buses would fall into the catagory of people in your ealier post. We've even had pit bulls in the back of trucks in the parking lot.

Yeah, definitely wash the sheets in the guest room before anyone sleeps on them. So far as I know, I was the last one on them I was putting stuff in my ass.

Better be quick about it. Ike is supposedly headed this way. You'll probably get them all back.
