Okay, so I'm confused (not that this is unusual lol).....no runs can be posted on these forums except those initiated by raid leaders? I mean....it obviously can't mean that guildies can't participate in any raids other than those headed by official raid leaders...or that guildies can't go with other guildies on raids/runs unless there's a raid leader involved?

Or perhaps it just can't be posted in the *official* Instance category forum unless it's one initiated by a raid leader? Would that then mean if someone wanted to get some guild peers to help out on a run/raid and they weren't a raid leader, they'd post it in another category? Or it would only be acceptable to ask people individually and/or in guild chat in game?

No... we've decided long ago that we would only post raids when there was an officer around to run it.

We're pretty happy with the way that our raids are being run, but it has been a lot of work and the Directors and Producers that post the runs know all the reasons why we do things the way we do them and can avoid any drama that can easily occur if we don't do things the same way every time.

I do realize that things are a little slow right now because many people are taking it easy before the expansion comes out but here are a few reasons that we only have officers post raids.

-We discuss all the days ahead of time on the officer forums to make sure that we aren't posting too few or too many.

-On weeks where many people sign up for Kara or ZA and we have enough to run multiple runs we can co-ordinate between the runs to make sure that both runs have all the classes necessary to pull off a succussful run.

-We try to keep loot distribution casual when the raids are going on encourage everyone to relax about it... but we are also aware of all the loot drama that has gone on in the past and what to do to make sure that it isn't repeated.

-We keep track of who gets decked too often and make sure they get priority to go the next time.

-Lots of other reasons too

Our intention really isn't to censor people or keep them down, but to make sure that we keep things in the happy place that we've worked so hard to get it to.

We can take requests for raids via PMs too and we can discuss with anyone that is interested in running them as well.

Oh one more thing.

PUGs are a completely different story. While we won't be encouraging it when the expansion comes since it will make keeping raid IDs organized very difficult, if you want to PUG a Kara run you are welcome to right now.

Just make sure you let people on guild chat know that you are intending to PUG some members first (Many people in the guild aren't big on PUGing and are only interested in raiding with full VS raids.)

Posting PUGs on the forums is kind of a sticky situation though because we know how hard it is on people when raids don't go well. We've worked really hard to get to a place where we can successfully run through these places and many guild members expect things to go well when they sign up for a Kara run. (Unless of course it is a Newb night for training people) This is why we try to keep the raid postings to officers.

*smiles* Thanks for the quick and understandable response, Fox...it all makes sense given the various *behind-the-scenes* things taken into consideration :)

It's also important to make the distinction between a "run, 5 man" ie Mech, Blood Furnace and a "raid 10 man+" ie Kara, ZA, Gruul.

The officers can correct me if I am wrong but it is ok for guildies to post runs in the calendar. But an offical Raid Leader must post a raid. For all the reasons that Fox listed in his post.

If this is wrong guys please correct the info.

I just want to make sure people understand we encourage people to post "runs". If you need help clearing a certain place it the best way to let us know. But raids are a bit of a different animal.

Yes, by all means, everyone post runs! It's just the raids that are reserved for RL, mainly because of raid ID issues, but also for all the reasons Fox stated above.

But I would like to ask everyone that leads a run to ensure they have read our loot policy. I know we have a lot of new people in the guild that might not be 100% sure how we like to do things. And as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. We try to keep our forums as informative as possible but sometimes the information gets lost in the shuffle!
