Smooth & a bit smoky, a little bite and no leftovers; a quality batch they have made this year.

As an aside...I noticed my local Publix now is carrying "Rogue Dead Guy Ale" which brought great joy to my usually dour demeanor; twelve bucks a six pack is somewhat painful though.

<large hug> Char, I am proffering my opinion on one of the very few things that I truly excel in...which is large scale consumption of fermented malts and hops.

Yeah, I can never resist picking up a 6-pack when their display beckons me from across the store. Speaking of, I'm about out...

Just the colors of the freakin' box/bottles brings me unspeakable joy. Well played, Sam Adams, well played.

I haven't tried this year's batch yet, but I recall it being good in the past. I am usually a fan of all Octoberfest type beers, although Harpoon is probably my favorite.

My current beer of choice, though, is Dale's Pale Ale, which, oddly enough, comes in a can. But it is a true microbrew, quite hoppy, and quite refreshing. From Oskar Blues Brewery in Lyons, Colorado. Check it out if you can (no pun intended).

Marketing people are sneaky bastards; can't trust any of 'em...<whistles innocently> truthfully...most of us are lazy accounting majors that couldnt hack tax or advanced...twitch...spasm.

BTW Don...The beer drinking women brought a tear to my eye.

To my utter joy I discovered that my parents inadvertently bought a cottage 3 miles from the Southern Tier brewery in Lakewood, NY. They are most well known for their outstanding and highly rated Pale Ale, though they make a seasonal Pumpkin Spice. It is VERY pumpkiny and spicy and almost not like beer. It was too much for me, but I acknowledged its goodness, and if that is your thing, its a good choice.

Me too. This is my first Oktoberfest NOT in Germany. I am drinking in German Village section of Columbus tonight and will try to do my best.

Well, it's a work function, on-site ... though there are ways around the drink max.

2 Massbiers is all you'd really need if you do 'em fast enough.

My favorite right now is Alexander Keith's Red Amber Ale. The brewery, probably one of the oldest in North America, is in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I was out that way a few years ago and they have character actors lead tours; very interesting and fun.
