It appears as though we feel that the new raid calendar is hurting our attendance numbers. My hopes were of just cutting us all over to it and not trying to ween it much -- so much for that. With all the posts and calendar entries going up in different spots, it's making a lot of redundancy as well as a bit of a mess. And I hate messes.
Unfortunately, there's currently no automatic way to integrate the sign-up sheet with the forums. The reason for the sign-up sheet was to try and make things a bit easier for our RLs as it's much easier to look at one simple post with all the info instead of having to dredge through pages of a thread. I'm still trying to think up a better way to integrate it all but it's no small task and I'm trying to take everything into consideration.
My primary concern and goal with the site is making sure that navigation is always very clear, fluid and functional. I'll be working on this throughout the evening and will hopefully quickly come up with the right solution for us. In the meantime, it's all in a bit of disarray... deal with it. ;) <3

I think the thing that works so well about the original signup method is that every time someone signs up it bumps the post and reminds people its happening.
The new method is definitely prettier though :)

Personally, I thought the other way was great...cleaner and more concise, while also giving other possible pertinent info.
I think the problem may have been that there was no announcement/post regarding the changeover (at least that I saw...I could be wrong), stating that this was going to be the new way to sign up, etc. All I saw was a raid posted with a link to *sign up here*. I know that should be self-explanatory, but sometimes, an *official word* helps to put people in the right direction, while also perhaps welcoming thoughts and suggestions.
In addition, I'm not sure it was really given enough time for people to get used to. Whatever the reason, I thought it seemed very efficient....for what that's worth lol :D

If we had a link to the raid calendar under Navigation on the top of the pages it might help. But as Fox noted, bumping the forums is a big deal I think.
I can see how it helps the RL's. I hope you figure something out. I kinda liked it.

heh. Grayce, the official announcement was here and stickied to the top of the forum.
Thanks for the feedback thus far. It's always welcome.

I can see the new calendar being a little slow to get adopted until people get in the habit, but imho it's not really that hard to do. I applaud Don for always improving on the already-excellent site!
I think we're going to try and keep with the new calendar. I've moved the upcoming events to the top of the front page and new post page. Hopefully, this IN YOUR FACE approach will help with the lack of having threads. I'll be removing the raid forum I created earlier today later tonight -- have to go to work now.

Work is highly over-rated. Tell the newb you're working with that I gave you permission to not do tickets, let the queue pile up and instead work on the website.
Oh, and you can tell him I called him a newb too. :p
Anywho, the site looks great, and I like the calendar on the front page. I need to check it more often, and with it right there, it makes it easier to remember!
Keep up the hard work hon!

haha! awesome! I'll make sure to tell him.
I think I got everything squared away. THE OFFICIAL WORD BY ME: (just for Grayce ;) ) All raids will now only be scheduled in the new calendar and there will be no forum threads created! As you see now, there will be a little section at the top of the forums as well as when you go to "New Posts" which will show all the upcoming raids. Yay!
Also, just to make you all click a little more, I've broken out our calendar into 3 sub-calendars. #1. for stuff (VS Events, bdays, wow holidays...) #2 for 5-mans and #3 for raids.
Enjoy!

Haha...leave it me to miss that! I thought that was most likely the case...I'm blonde...that's my excuse and I'm stickin to it! lol
Regardless...I really did think the new way was good, so I'm glad you're giving it another shot :)

What about using a popup? I know vB has the capability. too annoying maybe?
I see what you are getting at and helping out the RL... but trying to think about how to make it more visible.
What about another frame down the right side of the forums that shows the calendar?

I think this new method is going to work out. If not, I'll just burn this mother fucker down.

Excuse me...I believe you have put the Kara Raid in the 5-man Forum and not at the top?
And there seems to be a problem with my paycheck.

It was a panic trying to get 10 people for tonight to notice. The next will be in the right place.
I think the reminders at the top of the new posts page is a great idea!

I usually click on the 'calendar' link at the top of the page when I want to check out whats going on. Right now I see only birthdays.

That one calander for everything stuff is so two weeks ago.
There are three calanders at the top you can pick from right now.

This makes me want to cry. Also, isn't Serpent Shrine a CAVERN? and not a KEEP?
I'm being difficult on purpose.

Tempest Keep
See what Fox did there?

Should I change it back? :( I just thought Fox made a sleepy-mistake.
