Last year my company got acquired, and January 1 we're getting new benefits. We had the meeting about it yesterday, and while most of our benefits are going to be way better, there are some changes that are affecting people's budgets in a significant way. One of those people is me.

And I just looked at the minimum system requirements for WotLK, and my computer doesn't meet them for processor or processor speed. This doesn't altogether surprise me, since I've had significant performance issues throughout TBC but was fine during vanilla WoW. But it means I can't get to Northrend without a new computer.

So, unless between now and the drop date I can figure out a way to afford a new computer and a WoW subscription, I'll probably be saying goodbye. And it might be earlier than that, since I haven't successfully gotten the patch to install (it says file such-and-such cannot be written, and then I get an error that there's not enough disc space even though I've cleared off the 6.5-GB requirement, and then some).

Stupid patches. Stupid processors. Stupid ring.

Yeah, I already upgraded as much as I could upgrade by adding RAM, and that was back in vanilla WoW.

Well, one hurdle is down. On about try number 7 I finally got the patch to install. Apparently 6.5 GB of available space really meant 7.5 GB on my computer, because less than that and it kept running out of room and giving me errors partway through.

Doh! That sucks Lem :( Hopefully something will work itself out.

:( You could always (if you wanted) get a barebones system off ebay for really cheap and then just add the various hardware components as you can...little by little, you'd end up with a nice system.....

As of right this minute, I worked it out! It'll be a couple days after the expansion by the time I get to Northrend, but hooray!

Happy news! I am glad that we will still have Lyr around. I would have really missed Jubling, too.
