Those are antlers. If I would have known my dining room was going to be posted on the internet, I would have cleaned more.

Oops, sorry, maybe I shoulda checked with you first...but really, you should see mine! Besides, how neat can a room possibly be with 9 people playing D&D all afternoon AND a buncha kids running around???

I can't expect to be taken seriously as a druid if I don't have antlers. (If I played D&D.)

P.S. I can't believe you GIANT NERDS recognized what version they are playing with. That's some fancy stuff!

4? Is utter shit. I totally put all my Gygax cred behind that statement. I remember having a conversation with a bunch of the 'old crew' (you know, the guys that playtested all the original modules around Gary's kitchen table) at GenCon and they were all bitching that 4.0 was crap and that it was like "that World of Warcraft Game". I thought to myself that they were just grumpy old men, so a couple weeks I grabbed the core rules off the shelf at Barnes and Noble and sat down with a cup of coffee to review them and give it a shot. I had intended to buy them, but at the end of an hour, I was utterly disgusted. 4.0 is truly so much of a blatant rip-off of WoW's success that its not even trying to hide it. They basically group classes into 'healers, tanks, and dps' (I forget their little equivalent names) and have what are essentially the n00b, levelling, and raiding phases of advancement. They might as well include a little toolbar to put in front of you for your skills and feats. It really is ridiculous and resembles nothing like what D&D was.

Now keep in mind I'm not a rulez nazi. I am very much a believer that rules are there to pick and choose from at the DM's desire; to use in shaping his story. But this was just too much. Bleh.

2nd Ed. AD&D is real man's D&D.

Encounter 2: Castle (Magic)
Windextor kicked open a door to reveal a room full of evil cultists who were about to get started on some grade-A evil ritual.
Windextor made an Attack Bonus check with a difficulty of 26 . . . and rolled 24
After an awkward moment, the cultists performed a super-abridged version of their evil ritual, summoning a not-terribly-impressive avatar of evil into the world. Windextor defeated it in a pitched battle, but the cultists escaped.

Windextor took 13 damage.

Windextor received 46 XP.

Windextor received a suit of Reflexive Armor.

Unless you carry your dice in a Crown Royale bag, you are not a real gamer.

Insanely jealous I am...perhaps I shall prod Dind and Adoni into playing. My only problem is staying sober long enough to DM a session; and my idiot dog would try to kill anyone visiting.

I kinda like 4th edition.

I know they simplified the rules to appeal to a greater market, however I believe that its a different system rather than a uttershit/better system ;)

If you already got all the books then keep playing it

what I disagree with 4th

WOC dumping the 3.5 system so soon
Removing some the core class and races( I have to buy another book?)
I have to pay a membership fee on the website? ( I rather buy my magazines)

What I like
ITs easier system to DM
They are bring back some of the classic locations from pass years

All mine are in a Captain Morgan bag. It was from some special edition that, oddly enough, my old DM gave me on my birthday. Thanks Rick!

Kids often struggle with the question "Is it better to be a jock or a nerd?" Maybe the following statistics will help them decide.

Michael Jordan will make over $300,000 a game: $10,000 a minute, assuming he averages 30 minutes per game. Assuming $40 million in endorsements next year, he'll be making $178,100 a day (working or not)! Assuming he sleeps 7 hours a night, he makes $52,000 every night while visions of sugarplums dance in his head. If he goes to a movie, it'll cost him $7.00, but he'll make $18,550 while he's in there. If he decides to have a 5 minute egg, he'll make $618 while boiling it. He makes $7,415/hr more than the minimum wage (after the wage hike). He'll make $3710 while watching each episode of Friends. If he wanted to save up for a new Acura NSX($90,000) it would take him a whole 12 hours! If someone were to hand him a salary and endorsement money, they would have to do it at a rate of $2.00 every second. He'll probably pay around $200 for a nice round of golf, but will be reimbursed $33,390 for that round. Assuming he puts a federal maximum of 15% of his income into his tax deferred account(401K), he will hit the federal cap of $9500 for such accounts at 8:30 a.m. on January 1st,1997. If you were given a tenth of a penny for every dollar he made, you would be living comfortably at $65,000 a year. He'll make about $19.60 while watching the 100 meter dash in the Olympics. He'll make about $15,600 while the Boston Marathon is being run. While the common person is spending about $20 for a meal in his trendy Chicago restaurant, he'll pull in about $5600. Next year, he'll make more than twice as much as all of our past presidents for all their terms combined. Amazing isn't it?

BUT... MICHAEL JORDAN WOULD HAVE TO SAVE 100% OF HIS INCOME FOR OVER 300 YEARS TO HAVE A NET WORTH EQUIVALENT TO THAT OF BILL GATES!
