Xbox360 or PS3

Why?

Sorry Wii Users, Don't care about you for this...I'm lazy and don't want to have to move around and actually get exercise.

Fat is the new black.

I have both, but my PS3 is mostly used to collect dust.

Most games come out for both consoles, but unless I am mistaken, they are usually programmed for the 360, and then ported to the PS3, so some games might be more buggy on the PS3.

One thing you might want to do is look at the list of games that are coming out exclusively to either one of the two consoles. That might help you decide which one to buy.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the PS3 can also be used as a Blu Ray player.

I'd go with the 360. You'd get more use out of it.

PS3 is kinda sexy, though. There are only a handful of worthy (IMO) games that are built FOR the PS3 and it's not really enough to justify the cost of it for me.

I agree with Ibnuzar, if you don't need a Blue ray player and you are not swayed by any PS3 only titles then you might want to get a 360. More and more things are made for both and they PS3 version is rarely enhanced in anyway to make it better than the 360.

Sony really dropped the ball with the PS3. Which is a really hard thing to do given all the problems the 360 and the general prejudice against Microsoft and an american type project. Sony should have been able to clobber them.

I asked the same question a few months ago and there's a fairly lengthy thread. the advice then was the same as you're getting now. one other point was made -- the PS3's you can actually get don't play PS2 titles; I don't know if that matters to you. I ended up getting an xbox 360 and don't regret it for a second. Although pretty much all I do with it is play Rock Band.

Here is an example of what we were talking about. It is obvious more attention was paid to the XBOX than the PS3

Fallout 3 XBOX 9.0

===The Bad===

  • The story and characters can feel a bit sterile
  • Combat feels mildly clunky.

Fallout 3 PS3 8.5

  • The story and characters can feel a bit sterile
  • Combat feels mildly clunky
  • Marked aliasing and other visual blemishes.

It's because the PS3 is frickin' annoying to make a game for!!!! (And that's saying something, considering how annoying MSFT is to make a game for.)
I swear, Sony has special graphics compression code that they give to ONLY their internal companies, just so their stuff looks better than anybody else's can...

Sorry... saw this and just had to rant for a moment because I'm right in the middle of this problem right now. Heh... I feel better now...

Xbox can run Viva Pinata.
PS3 can not run Viva Pinata.

Xbox wins!

I am still waiting for the spin-offs: "Viva Putana" and "Vulva Pinata".
