i hate dominos pizza... apparently, if you order pizza from them you are giving them permission to call you multiple times during the week to inform you of their specials. in complete disregard for the Do Not Call registry apparently.

if you call and ask them to remove your number, they will but you are added to the list again as soon as you call and order from them again.

>:( bastards...

not that i think this matters, in the grand scheme of things, but they caught me on a day when WoW is broken and i'm cranky

just wanted to vent =)

Buying pizza from Domino's gives them implicit permission to call you. In doing so you've developed a business relationship with them, so their obnoxiousness is not in violation of Do Not Call.

If you had never ordered from Domino's in your life and they started calling you, that would be a violation.

i totally get that...i read it somewhere else. it was just aggravating. it's not like they put it out there. there's nothing on their website that says, "If you order from us, we'll bug the shit out of you..." something that, to me, at least might be worth mentioning. i don't honestly expect anyone to boycott dominos. i just wanted to bitch about it. and i have.

Mayhew I would be pissed too.

Just a very stupid move on their part.
I hope for their sake their sales increase more than the amount of customer they will lose.

If I do business with a place and then they call my house to sell me stuff I usually never do business with them again.

They must have learned that from the Banks and the Phone company. Though I have not heard from Ma'Bell in a while.

This is what I think is wrong with the world and why handguns are being outlawed, because if everyone owned handguns there'd be a lot of dead pizza people.

Oh, and cable and telephone customer service people too.

Saddest part is much like the beggars and gold farmers in Wow they would not be doing it if they were not making money.

I think we need to add more life skills classes into our school system.

Hmm, I found that informing them that I was heavily armed, off my medication, and not afraid to park my bike in the middle of their dining room to be an effective way to get off the call list. /shrug

I find this interesting. Does this take the place of all the millions of coupons I get from them? Is this a business tactic to cut the costs of making said coupons/advertisements?

If all the businesses I get junk mail from just started calling me instead, I think I'd have to run away.

It's just like normal spam emails and stuff. Some dude bought something back in '93 and it somehow created a business model.

except that my phone doesn't have a spam filter that keeps these calls from getting through...yes, i realize that i don't have to answer the phone and i don't. my original point was simply that this isn't something that they're very up front about. it's shady and it's annoying.

and supposedly, my number has been removed and will remain that way as long as i don't order any more dominos pizza, which i won't :)

Caller ID is a wonderful thing.

Fake number... valid idea, unless there is some sort of issue with the delivery and they actually need to call, say, for directions or clarification of an order.

Caller ID is a wonderful idea...but beside the point. My initial gripe was simply that they are not clear about how they are going to use your number when you give it to them.

So yes in theory, using caller ID to avoid the call works, but only to an extent in that they're still calling when I don't want or need them to. Their specials aren't really a priority for me.

I am glad you posted this so I know not to order from them. I hate the phone.

For what it's worth, unless this is something -real- recent, I've never been called by them. I used to order pizza there (most recent was a month ago) and never got called.

I'm not defending the practice, just saying that it may vary by location. I -think- Dominos are franchises, so maybe you just got "lucky". If it is a franchise, I bet you could right a nasty note to corporate. I doubt they'd appreciate this practice by one of their franchises. Then again, you may give them an idea.

Interestingly, pizza delivery person is the among the top ten most dangerous jobs in America. They're frequently getting shot at.

I have a good friend who delivered pizza for about 7 years (he managed a Papa Johns and had to deliver a lot). He had a shotgun pulled on him twice, a handgun a few more times then that, someone tried to car jack him (but failed epicly because they couldn't drive stick)... basically, its rough.

One of his drivers was shot at by a guy who swore he didn't order any pizza but insisted she leave it there for him anyway. When the bullets went flying she quit her job on the spot...

They also make excellent pot dealers.
True story.
