So far, very cool. Death Knight is fun so far too. The beginning quests are different than most other quests in WOW before. Nice for $40.

OK level 60 so far as a Death Knight and I am no where near a power-leveler. Fun, strong class so far. I may stick to this one so I can get to Northrend all the sooner!

Oh and the only down side is that, althought you start with first aid at like skill 270, you have no other trade skills so you are forced to go back to the starter areas to level them up. I'm guessing so anyway. I haven't tried it yet so that's just a guess. But that's ok.

Alright, got my new Death Knight, Alfarazon ( I think that's the right name), from level 55 to level 61. The game gets you nicely to level 58 and into your new place in the world and then it's off to Outland, if you like. Outland is relatively easy with the quest gear you receive during your first three levels.

My favorite part of the first three levels is the quest where you fly on a wyrm and use the creature's lightning breath to attack people and siege equipment. As you loose health, and mana, you can fly down and use a bite attack to scoop up a hapless crusader and fly away while your wyrm recovers health and mana. It's very much fun and I wish it didn't go so fast.

I enjoyed starting my own Death Knight. Maybe just a little too much.

I've spent the week-end picking up mining and skinning and grinding them to 300 so that I can have professions in Outland as well as Northrend. Tough last 80 points in mining but not too bad otherwise.

I've picked the unholy talent tree. Of course, I have nothing as a basis of comparison but I can say one of the cool factors that I picked it for was the permament ghoul pet. He came in very handy when farming professions. The down side is that you need an experience or honor producing humanoid in order to summon a ghoul. All death knights can summon a ghoul but they only last 2 minutes unless you take the unholy tree and pick that talent to make it a permanent pet. The pet is like a warlock pet in that if it is killed or lost, you summon another random pet. Also there is no pet training that I am aware of, though I have to admit that until now I never thought to check the talent trees for a separate pet one.. :/

The Death Knight is very strong after the starting quests due to the gear you obtain. I have found no improvements in Outland so far, with the exception of a sword that was identical except for being 1 point higher in another stat. Also the armor is of an intensely unique appearance so breaking up the set will be obvious and stark in contrast to the eye.

Also the class is very versatile. It has no burst self-healing but has constant healing and can increase healing at the loss of some dps. Note that the Death Knight cannot heal others.

There is a strong AOE taunt called Death and Decay that I found very useful in a couple of instances. There are minor AOE attacks as well. Most of the "spell" damage takes place in the form of diseases although runic power that is generated during combat can provide burst damage.

These disease "spells" are powered by runes that the Death Knight possesses at inception. There are two each of Blood, Frost and Unholy. Some spells require the use of one rune and some multiple runes of varying kinds. When a rune is used it recharges itself automatically, so the rune power is endless, just on a cooldown of about 8 seconds. If you plan your rune use carefully you can cast spells continuously.

As mentioned before, there is also a force called Runic Power that is generated through combat, much like a warrior's rage. This runic power allows the use of other offensive or defensive abilities.

There is also a power to enchant the weapon used but can only be done within the main base. This is all taught in the beginning. These enchantments allow for a variety of roles for the class, including increased damage against undead, anti-magic and increased parry and decreased disarm time.

The class has great utility for tanking and off-tanking. I've heard general chatter where people are claiming the class owns in PVP and that a full group of Death Knights can do some instances without healers or CC. Don't know if that's true or not.

In short, this guy is made for leveling up to 70. He's very tough, heals himself and lays smack like nobody, at least in my experience.

Did I mention the starting area and quests were a lot of fun? :)

A couple of neat things: you get a free 100% riding mount in the starting area. You also get a full set of blue gear in the starting area. There is also a cool spell that allows you and your party to walk and ride over water. This can be cast while mounted.

I made a DK. Specced unholy, and I love the corpse explosions!!! They make me laugh every time. I listened to the podcast on WOTLK and they said that the story line was dark. It is a lot darker but it's so much fun to laugh at the ppl running and cowering in fear and screaming as you smush them into little pieces. Oh and the goul that you summon as your pet has a stun that's described as chewing a limb off of your target... hahahaha....
Needless to say I went horde for this DK... a tauren, they're more impressive and menacing. >:)
