More interesting (or less, depending on your point of view) - it wasn't one person being powerlevelled by an entire guild, rather, one warlock mass-dot'ing / killing mobs in one area, over and over and over again. (With a priest healing.) Like killing millions of boars, only higher level versions.
Figure 800 XP / mob average, 2m XP / level (average to level 80) - that's 25k mobs.

I bet that guy really smells. Just sayin'.

24 hours past launch and I still only see 71s in our guild. WTF guys? Are you showering and taking care of your kids or some such garbage?
Fox and I were away and then came back to 2 concerts (NIN TONIGHT!!!). Hopefully next week will be more "productive".

This is the reason I exclaimed last night in guild chat (via MT) that "That's not cheating!"
People are trying to say because he got in on Beta testing, and learned the quickest way from 70-80, he cheated.

Sometimes you simply have to sit back and remember it is a game...not real life. I play the game to enjoy the content and to be a part of something that lets me interact with people that share the same desire to have fun.
My guess would be that running to 80 just to do it wouldn't be all that much fun. :hand:
Slow down and enjoy the show. If not, you'll miss something really important along the way.

Heroic Naxx has been finished already.
I'll admit I am uninformed here as to what that link is really saying, but it appears to claim that a guild has finished all the PVE content in the new expansion. I'll also assume that, to do so, they also leveled above 70 in order to attain this feat. Maybe not all the way to 80 but still it seems that in the span of ~132 hours this guild has leveled it's members and defeated all content.
I'm not buying it to be true. Maybe it is, but talk about "get a life". Assuming 6 hours sleep per day, this leaves barely 100 hours. It's either a farce or, if true, very sad.
I'm surprised they paused long enough to garner a screen-shot.
More likely it was done on test before release?

Well, with the guild mentioned, I'm pretty sure that these are the guys that have given up all pretense of the game as a hobby or leisure activity. They're EU based and i think a professional gaming team with sponsors. I think this is less an indication that these guys are nuts and more an indication that WotLK content is substantially less... substantial... than BC was.
I have a news flash on one of the members of that guild.

Yup, idiots. It is a damn game--not a way of life.

He could not last 24 hrs? WIMP!
Not that I advocate doing this but I am sure we have all done something similar in our life without falling over.

Yes make sure you DON'T mention the various charities that raise money based people not eating or sleeping for over 24hrs. Unless they are also playing video games when they do it, then they are evil and killing kids.

The guild that finished it is a combination of the best members of Nihilum and SK Gaming. They had been practicing on the beta and figuring out the most efficient way to race the top 25 of them to 80 and finish the heroic content.
And they're sponsored too.... I really don't know how much money they make playing, I just know it's more than nothing.

I love the quote from the father at the end...that he's going to start limiting his son's WoW time. Why in the hell weren't you doing that in the first place?

I was thinking the same thing. Shouldn't the father have done this in the beginning? Who let's their kids play that long? I know I wouldn't let mine play for more than a few hours at most.

My wife and I really considered moving to California if I had applied for the game test position with Blizzard last spring. Of course I didn't apply because my family really isn't ready for that kind of a move, but it was tempting to try to take a position with Blizzard and make a living doing some of what I love.
I quit checking their job postings because it's not worthwhile.
